Publisher's summary

Earth's survivors face devastating new challenges in the wake of recovering from an alien conflict. Battered and mourning tremendous losses, the once fractious peoples of enemy nations must work together to rebuild their shattered world - and prevent the possibility of their attackers' return. What they don't know is that a new, deadlier enemy unlike anything they've ever faced will usher in the dawn of another war.

Captain Morgan Passer commands the Rogue Class destroyer Autolycus, charged with an interstellar recon mission to detect traces of the repelled enemy while gathering information for the fortification of Earth's defenses. What the expedition finds instead is a deeply disturbing mystery: a discovery that redefines everything they thought they knew about Earth's place in the galaxy...and reveals deadly new horrors. In this original story set in the Odyssey One world, former enemies unite for their own survival, and Passer and his intrepid crew seek answers to help them save their people. Instead, they find that the invasion may be over, but the danger is just beginning.

King of Thieves Excellent!

An excellent addition to the In To The Black universe. New and well thought out characters with out copying characters from the original series. I can't wait to see them grow in the coming books. The hardest part of Evan's books is waiting for the next!

I wish I could time travel to read the next book

unfortunately at current possible speeds relative space time dilation just won't cut it for me not quick enough
great read. liked the explanations of many of the underlying theories behind the seeming impossible technologies,
can't forget even's ironic and sarcastic humor, and if you haven't figured it out yet the suspense is insane even when you know what is going to happen next(not a common occurrence) you can't help but yell at the characters as if it were a sports game with seconds on the clock
the authors writing style isn't for everyone especially the weak at heart as the warning states at the beginning of a amusement park ride enter at your own risk you might just discover your sucked in by this book never to be seen again

Continuity

I love the Odyssey series. I'm ok with a new narrator since it's a new storyline, but perhaps he should have listened to the previous books in order to know the precedent for how to pronounce things. Otherwise, it was a great listen!

Outstanding!!!

This is one of the best military sci-fi audiobooks i have listened to.Excellent story(might be interesting to have a site discussing the very interesting science in this book) Evan Currie is really one of the most interesting authors in the genreAlso,Excellent narration. This book reminds me a lot of the alien 2 movie but with some of the science of interstellar , it would really be great if he wrote some books of the Halo franchise.Really underrated author right now.Excellent audiobook, finished it almost in one day!

Great addition to the series

I really liked this side story that filled in some gaps referenced in the main series. Good narration- I wasn't bothered by the change in pronunciation that bothers others.

Great sci-fi entertainment!

Evan Currie’s books are becoming an addiction for us. Like Pokémon, “ you gotta catch ‘em all”! We’re reading through all of his series and we were delighted to find this stand-alone story which ties into the Odyssey One series. Currie brings in new people and some great alien creatures/monsters. What a marvelous imagination this writer has! I won’t give any spoilers, but I will say that this was an intensely exciting read. If your a fan, you will enjoy adding this one to your Currie collection. Great fun!

Another solid story from Currie

I really enjoyed this book, and despite its shorter length compared to his other works it packs a great amount of action!

Great science fiction story with great action.

I really enjoyed this story. It does have Many characters so you need to pay attention to who every one is. It is set up well and easy to follow. I have not read or listened to the other books in this series so I really enjoyed this story. I loved the narrators performance. He brought the characters to life and pulled me into the action.

A Tour De Force!

I loved this book. I have been a fan of the Odyssey One series since the first book and this current book is no less enjoyable than previous episodes. This volume, apparently in a new spin-off series, with a new hero, is really great space opera. Lots of problems to solve, very interesting speculative physics and some new monsters make for a great listen. The band of explorers get side-tracked looking for clues to the source of the Drasin, but learn new things about the universe they live in. I was sorry to have the novel end and look forward to the next book. I did not initially like the reader's voice, but he did an excellent job of keeping the excitement going and playing the multiple characters in the story.
