Publisher's summary

Everything about my life has been pretty normal working as a forensic autopsy technician. Until the day I woke up with a mysterious symbol tattooed on my arm.

Suddenly normal no longer existed. The barrier between Earth and a world called Under, dissolved....

Now I'm trapped with dozens of other people. Held prisoner by the creators of myths and legends, where the realm is ruled by two masked kings who want to turn us into creatures like them.

But even though I didn't choose to be here, this new world manages to pull me deeper, affecting me differently than other humans. Unfortunately, King Edu, also known as the King of Flames, notices this and I'm now considered a threat.

If I want to survive King Edu and the dangers of Under, I need to escape. The only problem is, there's another masked king who seems to have an interest in me. Aon, the King of Shadows, wants me here in this world, and he wants me alive.

I just need to figure out why.

Very pleased!!

I have been a fan of Under since the series first came out. I was nervous about how the narrator would performed since I have read the stories. She was great! Loved her voice and all the characters she did. Brought the story of Under to life agian for me!

Great start to an excellent series

I first read this series and Kindle and it immediately became one of my favorites. I had to buy the audio versions as soon as they came out and am really pleased with how they turned out. Under is one of the most interesting alternate worlds I have encountered in a long time, and I will return to these characters again and again. Highly recommended!!

The ultimate fantasy series

I fell in love with this series from the beginning and own it in ebook and paperback - I recently bought the audiobooks
I think my negative response to the narration was the fact already had Lydia in my head and it did not match my perception of her - I just didn't feel the stress in the moments, the excitement or fear or hesitation

The ultimate fantasy experience!
This has to be one of the top ten fantasy/paranormal reads of the year.
"Panic Later. Deal with this First. Panic Later" - Lydia's Gran
This was Lydia's mantra throughout this amazingly entertaining and riveting journey that was King of Flames.
I truly can not recall the last time I was so bewitched by a read - It had such an eccentric cast of characters. It was fast-paced, twisted definitely kept me on my toes! One moment I would find myself in a scene that had me wanting to look away until it was over and then the next I was gasping for breath from laughing so hard. And Lydia what a refreshing in-your-face collection of intensely crazy and "it is what it is". I loved her! She was genuine and fun and intelligent and her sidekick Nick, yeah loved him too.
I truly can not express what a blast this was to read. The universe that Kingsley created was so vivid and this was just an opening glimpse. I am truly excited to see where she takes us.
This ends on a hellacious cliff hanger - The kind that had me screaming " H @ll NO!!" my son laughed at me - no kidding
I am not giving spoilers. The story line is in the blurb. I will say if you are looking for a read that will have you cringing, laughing, a bit spooked, really curious and all the emotions in between - ONE CLICK

Unexpected Gem

I just came across this book while half heartedly browsing. Only one credit left and I didn’t want to waste it. Just couldn’t quite settle for any one book. Luckily I happened to stumble over this gem and put it on while I kept looking. Pretty soon I stopped looking and started to really pay attention. This is definitely a credit worthy story so I feel extra lucky I scored it while in the free catalog! Not only did I get a very satisfactory story but now I know what to use my last credit on! The second book in the series of course!

The book did have some dual narration ( AKWAYS a plus) and I thought all the narration was well done. I absolutely recommend this book !!! Take advantage of such a find being free! If it costs a credit now…you know what still do it! I’m so keyed up for the next book! Oh man it better deliver!

Excellent series start with good narration

First, be warned! Only the first three books of the series are on audiobooks with no plans announced to record the rest of them. As a vision impaired reader this is an issue since book three does end in a cliffhanger.
The books themselves are wonderful and highly recommended. I hope that the remainder are made available in audio format someday.

Nostalgic potential

Sometimes just because something is free doesn't mean you should read it. Even if it sounds like nostalgic catnip. Which this did. And it was fine, but not perfect. I don't think I'll read book 2 though.

It just went on and on DNF

Aside from Nick being a complete coward there wasn’t anything special about any character. It was so boring.
