About this listen
Kelpies have come to Savannah, Georgia. The shape-shifting water spirits are on the hunt for a legendary hero, an alpha with the ability to end the curse that forces them to feast on human flesh. When Vivienne Griffin arrived in the city, she had no idea that such nightmarish creatures existed and that they would soon have a personal vendetta against her.
In her pursuit of wedding plans and a beautiful future, she finds herself at the mercy of the kelpies, a group of kelpie hunters called the Comhlan, and a stunningly handsome, too-good-to-be-true entrepreneur named Riley Slade. Will Vivienne escape the wrath of the water horses? Will she find a way to end the curse? Or will she fall prey to the hunger of the kelpies?

High potential, kinda disappointing overall
This book on its surface seemed to have great potential for a story, for a clever, romantic spin on an ancient pagan legend. It became apparent very quickly, however, that the story this author wanted to tell was 1: too "dark" and "steamy" for her ability or comfort level as a writer. 2: a place to sneak Christianity into what is, at its root, NOT a myth where Christianity ought to be.
I understand and respect creative license and typically I love it when people can put a different spin on things. But this attempt made the story itself go... crunchy. Pre-Roman Scottish tradition and folklore has already been pirated enough, it just didn't vibe for me to see it done to fae creatures too. Making Kelpies somehow a Hebrew thing? Just... not respectful. It would be like making the story of Jesus Christ into a Wendigo story instead.
Also, as an opinion of personal taste more than anything else, the love interest(s) both were just as Bella Swan as the MC. If romance is spice, this book's romance is flour.

Great story line!!
I have loved the idea of the Kelpie for years. This book is everything I could have asked for!The mystery, action, mythology, and the nice touch of romance is a recipe for the perfect book! More please!!

Narrator was awful
I don’t usually do reviews at all. However, having just already returned a book I had also bought as an ebook I didn’t think I could return this one and thus listened to the whole thing. First, I had to listen on 1.7x speed. The narrator paused were sooooooo long. There were also lots of pronunciation errors. Second. The premise was fine. Interesting even. However. Execution was lacking. The main characters were All one dimensional, ridiculously shallow, with modesty complexes that made me think it was set in the early 1900s rather than 2023. The writing was not good. Third. Apparently there’s going to be another book?? I can’t go through this again, so someone just tell me how it ends. Except, the whole thing is pretty predictable once you going. So good luck! I wouldn’t use a credit. :(
