Publisher's summary
Humankind have spread to the stars, but so far, the only other intelligent being discovered is a primitive fox-like race called the Kawokee. Sixty years after their discovery, humanity is being inundated by a virus that originated from the Kawokee world.
Jasmine Char believes the cure lies within the native culture. While other scientists look for a chemical solution amidst the growing fear and political landmines, Jasmine has her own reasons for finding a cure. But with the planet’s inhabitants decimated by human interference and misunderstandings, will she find the answers, or will the Kawokee disappear along with the entire human race?

Story
This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Published in instalments in 1859, The Woman in White is often considered to be one of the very first detective novels. Although critics weren’t impressed at the time, the novel proved to be a hit with the public and has since gone on to become one of the timeless classics of the Victorian era. Following the adventures of Walter Hartright, this is a story of sleuthing, inheritance, ghosts and mistaken identity and was recently the subject of a hit TV adaptation by the BBC.

Senior co-administrator of the Norcoast Salmon Research Facility, Dr. Mackenzie Connor was a biologist who studied the spawning habits of salmon. Then, last season, just as she and Dr. Emily Mamani were starting their research, they were interrupted by the arrival of Brymm, the first Dhryn to set foot on Earth. And suddenly everything changed for Mac, Emily, Brymn, the human race, and all the member races of the Interspecies Union. Base was attacked, Em was kidnapped by the mysterious Ro, and Mac and brymn had to flee for their lives to the Dhryn home world.

Kawokee. Wowokee!
I’m a massive horror fan, but even I like to switch it up. As of late, when I need a break from all the gore, I turn to Stacy Bender. This fantastic author never lets me down. Kawokee is no exception. With her co-author, Reid, they have crafted Sci-Fi gold! This would make for one helluva movie! I loved it and will be starting the next book immediately! Highly recommended!

Really unique!
This was a deeply complicated unique tale. I really enjoyed the anthropological point of view and the final twist is literally mind-blowing. I haven’t read such a well written sci-fi novel in a while and this was incredibly refreshing.
Warnings: no Fbombs but there is a fair use of all other language. References to nudity and intimate relationships either directly with mild detail or less direct.
I highly suggest you give this book a try.

a seriously fun and smart sci-fi tail
Carne Naess may be one of the best narrators in my Audible library. Her use of inflection and pitch help make every single character, even the minor characters appearing in a single scene, stand out from each other. In Kawokee, this is important, as different chapters follow different characters at the same time period, and solving the mysteries of Kawokee before Minnich and Bender's characters solve it is made easier with the narration.
There are several mysteries inside of Kawokee, and most of them are answered by the end. However, it was a great joy whenever i solved one mystery due to clues given, amd get proven correct by the end.
I highly recommend Kawokee to any person who enjoys sci-fi or mysteries or space adventures.

Foxy Alien'a with attitude!
Very interesting story with a lot of imagination. I listened through to the end of this Audio book and I was not disappointed. Kind of a shocker at the end but it really brought the whole story together. I received this Audio book for free in exchange for an unbiased review. Great listen!

A wonderful furry para-anthropological romp!
First off, the reader, this is an audiobook version, after all. Caren Naess kept the reading well paced, no need to speed up or slow down to gather everything in. The pronunciation and character voices kept on point, and gave you a chance to get into the story, not the reader. A wonderful job, I did not even need to rewind to re-listen.
On starting this book, I feared that the Noble Savage trope was going to be at play. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the novel gave a more complex view to a race seemingly alien to our own, while providing a story that is worth a few reads through. Reminiscent of Ursula K. Le Guin's beautiful "The Left Hand of Darkness," tinged with the sort of darkness inherent in the history that influenced "The Handmaid's Tale," we have a story that follows para-anthropological themes, as we explore the many aspects of a new society, and see how much it varies from, or even resembles, our own. This is also a wonderful addition to the furry fandom, and those who enjoy such anthropomorphic characterizations will likely enjoy this novel.
I requested a free review copy of this audiobook, with expectation of my honest review. Thank you for allowing me to listen to and review this amazing new book!

Humans….

Humans are dying out because they are no longer able to carry a child to full term. An infection has hit the race and hit it hard.
One woman wants to study the Kawokee to see why they can still give birth so goes and lives in their villages.
I found this book really interesting. I havnt read anything like it before. A couple twists and terms I didn’t see coming.
Narration was fabulous, the narrator does a great job. I’m really interested to listen to book 2

Much better than I expected
This book delivered on expectations and then some! I enjoyed the plot, which gave plenty of clues but still had some surprises! I don’t want to give too much away, but there is angst, action, mystery and adventure. There’s also some moral stories, and a little political commentary— but it fits the plot and isn’t in-your-face.

Wonderful Sci-fi story
Interesting sci-fi story about humans encountering an alien race.and how we react to them much like when the Europeans came to the new World. Then things take a few twists and sadly while we advanced technically some of us haven’t advanced morally
