Publisher's summary

Hayley Cage never expected to find herself running jobs with one of the toughest mercenary units working the galaxy's edge. But then, life doesn't always go as planned. If it did, she would be about to graduate as an officer in the Republic military, not prepping for a routine rescue mission on a backwater planet in the middle of nowhere. A mission that's about to go straight to hell.

When a bad deal leads to a worse situation, Hayley and her squad find themselves trapped planet-side, under heavy attack, and fighting to survive against the most dangerous threat they've ever encountered. A threat they can't afford to leave unchecked, even if it means they have to die to stop it.

If they don't, it's going to be a whole lot more than their lives that are lost. It's going to be the whole galaxy.

The enemy always seems to be one step ahead, ready to intercept at every turn. When Hayley's at a crossroads of trusting someone she doesn't or not trusting someone she does, she has only one choice: Soldier up and double down. Lay everything on the line.

Loved the how it interleaved with the Chaos series here and there

This guy a the least needy book by a female author I’ve listened to. At first I was a little skeptical. Ur the story and narration drew me in. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was kinda nice to have a happy ending for once that wasn’t ridiculous.

I think it also begs for a 2nd series with Hal’s mom Abbey aka Queenie.

shame not Jeff hays

it really is a shame it wasn't narrated by Jeff Hays. Otherwise incredible, and a good deal.

Great ending

The performance was top notch. I liked how the story ended. Warped everything up very nicely.

Too bad this was not performed by Jeff Hays

The woman doing the reading had a pleasant speaking voice but had no alternate voice skills and the story suffered because orbit when compared to the seven book Hells Rejects series.

Good deal and a good story

Cool techno take on mythology for a fun and curious sci-fi adventure with great characters each in real danger. That’s code for some die, unexpectedly. The battle scenes are clever with the conflict solutions likewise unexpected and fun. Highly recommended.

Took a bit to get into

Although in the end, I did enjoy the story over all, there was a lag time to really understand what was going on.

If there is a series of books that follow a story line and group of characters, perhaps listing, or suggesting the order in which the books are read, or listened to.

Thanks!

Great set of books.

In one complete set you can follow the whole arc of this story. I do think that the first book is the strongest in this series and really grabbed my attention

Not the right narrator

It was jarring going from one story with a set of characters to another story with many of the same characters but a different narrator.

That said the author is good the story is good and it stands alone. Though the fact that Gant doesn’t chitter... lost a lot of the “soul” of having the story read to me. But I still enjoyed it a lot.

You won't remember it, but there are worse.

the universe is in peril. Hailey cage quark and the writers once again faced off against the Nephilim and the nanites that have become predominant throughout the Universe. this series is okay to listen to It's a little bit fun but all-in-all you don't have anything really imaginative or new. The characters don't really grow on you and there's very little in the way of developing an emotional attachment to them. I don't have a lot of negative to say about this book but I don't have a lot positive to say about it either this is perfect for a long car ride or why you are doing the laundry but you won't remember it in a week
