About this listen

Sixteen-year-old Princess Leia Organa faces the most challenging task of her life so far: proving herself in the areas of body, mind, and heart to be formally named heir to the throne of Alderaan. She's taking rigorous survival courses, practicing politics, and spearheading relief missions to worlds under Imperial control. But Leia has worries beyond her claim to the crown. Her parents, Breha and Bail, aren't acting like themselves lately; they are distant and preoccupied, seemingly more concerned with throwing dinner parties for their allies in the Senate than they are with their own daughter.

Determined to uncover her parents' secrets, Leia starts down an increasingly dangerous path that puts her right under the watchful eye of the Empire. And when Leia discovers what her parents and their allies are planning behind closed doors, she finds herself facing what seems like an impossible choice: dedicate herself to the people of Alderaan--including the man she loves--or to the galaxy at large, which is in desperate need of a rebel hero...

Surprisingly good

I had never really thought much of a story with a young Princess Leia. This books gives a great story where a 16 yr old Leia will be forever be thrown into the fight of good versus evil.
Saskia does a great job in narrating and I can almost hear a hint of a young Carrie Fisher in her voice.

Great Book

This book gives great insight to the beginning of the characters we love. You'll learn of the life of Princess Leia when she was younger, which helps to better connect with her as an adult in other books and the films.

Awesome except for background music and sounds

Great story. Great writing. Solid vocal performance.

The background music and sounds seemed very thrown together. Very poorly done considering the professional level of everything else. Many times the background music and ambient tracks nearly overpowered the voice in volume. It was also very distracting the way the ambient tracks hiccuped when looping. Better to leave it out entirely if it isn't going to be done professionally.

Otherwise, all good!

The start of Leia's life in the Rebellion

Another fantastic story written by Claudia Gray. She knows her Star Wars! This book goes deeper into the upbringing of our beloved Princess Leia and gives us insight to many linea throughout the original trilogy.

Loved this book: highly recommend it!

I really enjoyed this book; it exceeded my expectations. Claudia Gray is proving to be my favorite new cannon Star Wars author. I would rank this above bloodline and on par with Lost Stars; her other SW books. I have read most of the new cannon books and this one gave me more of an emotional punch than any other. Getting to know Leia's adoptive parents, the Organa's, and seeing Leia interact with them and gain insight in how they shaped the rebellion is very special; very well written. It really makes the destruction of Alderaan all the more tragic. I think this book fits excellently with Rouge one and, in a different way of course, does an even better job in giving you the back story to episode 4 - A New Hope!

Great book

Brilliant work that makes Leia's loss of Alderran in ANH even more poignant. You finally understand that at that moment she faces her ultimate personal failure, she has failed to protect what and who she was sworn to protect.
