About this listen

There was a purpose in what happened to Johnny Tremain, but he couldn’t see it at the time. Johnny had been Mr. Lapham's star pupil, a clever, industrious apprentice silversmith, if not always well liked, at least envied by all who knew him around Hancock's Wharf. His skills had even been admired by Paul Revere, the finest silversmith in Boston. But when Johnny seriously burns his hand in a furnace, he finds himself crippled, without an occupation, and with no means of taking care of himself. It seems that fate has literally dealt him a cruel hand. Soon, trouble reaches Johnny's life in a new way. Swept along in the tide of events leading to the Boston Tea Party and the first skirmishes of Lexington and Concord, Johnny finds a job as message-carrier for the Sons of Liberty. As young and old men alike make sacrifices for a new country, Johnny prepares to take his own stand in the cause for freedom.

Great rendition

Awesome, AWESOME!!!
this is one of my favorite books, I have been a teacher, and teaching this book was a real pleasure. It's great to revisit it on audiobook. The narrator was fantastic. I'll be listening to it again very soon. Well worth the money!

A reminder of our roots

“Johnny Tremain” is a wonderful story of loss, growing up, and young adulthood in pre-Revolutionary America. I remember this story from Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color on TV in the 60s. So happy to hear the original all these years later. The reader is superb.

old time feel good

I like everything but what really stood out was a narration superb narrator! a narrator can make or break the story just as much as the author can writing it.

Johnny Tremain

This is a ok book not my favorite. I read/listened to it for my book club with my mom sister and brothers. A fun historical fiction about the American revolution. Personally I would recommend it for the family might be a little too much for younger children. 👍🏻/👎🏻

Johnny/Rab/Narrator

I couldn’t tell the difference between Johnny/Rab/Narrator and I got confused a little but I liked where he changed his voice just a little when it came to the women.

My childhood favorite

I learned as a child to love and appreciate American History from this novel. My lifelong interest in this formative period of our nation's independence has never left me. I recommend this novel to all school age youth.

Terrific for all ages

I’d forgotten what a truly wonderful story this is since the last time I read it 62 years ago. Great history. Narration is terrific, as always from George Guidall. Highly recommend this. Would have been a great road trip book when the kids were growing up. Wish I’d remembered it then!
