About this listen

When the new general manager of the Chicago Rebels tasks Tara Becker with faking it with one of his players to help clean up the naughty jock's act, she's all over it. She'll make that misbehaving hunk of muscle look good and get her dream guy into the bargain.

But the path from fake to real is riddled with thorns...

New Rebels GM Hale Fitzpatrick thinks ditzy blonde and wannabe WAG Tara is the perfect solution to his PR problem—until she isn't. Soon Fitz realizes that maybe he doesn't have control of the strings after all...especially when he starts to fall for his pretty little puppet.

Heartwarming!

I liked Tara and Hale’s romance because he’s the strong silent type and she manages to get under his defenses even though he thinks she’s a shallow gold digger. There are lots of layers to both of these characters that are further explored in the book and their emotional connection appealed to me most though Tara’s outrageous personality and her insecurities are a close second. I loved her ferocity where her sister is concerned and the way she becomes a confidant to other players on the team. Hale’s protectiveness toward Chloe and Tara, Tara’s relationship with Mia and Harper and her love for her sister was really heartwarming. I listened to the audiobook and I really enjoyed the entertaining narration of Ramona Master.

Tara is more than I thought

I didn’t like Tara in the three previous books she appeared in. She seemed so empty. I didn’t even think I wanted to read this book. But the development of her character in this book was great! And Hale. He’s a wonderful man! I’m glad I took the chance on Tara and enjoyed this book!

Dragged for 2nd half

I fast forwarded through most of last 10 chapters - so much dragging it out, so unnecessary to plot. I think I sort of liked overall plot, but the dragging and narrator kind of killed it for me. I didn't hate her voice, but thought not a great match for female character, she didn't do accents well nor differentiate between characters that well, though at least u could tell what gender, most of the time (she kept Tara's voice for Hales inner thoughts, weird and disconcerting).
