About this listen

A coming-of-age debut audiobook from accomplished actor, director, and writer Sean Patrick Flanery explores that powerful first taste of love that sets the bar for something that we'll chase, usually unsuccessfully, for the rest of our lives.

A young Mickey navigates through the dense Texas humidity of the '70s and out onto the porch every single time his granddaddy calls him, where he's presented with the heirloom recipe for life, love, and manhood. But all the logic and insight in the world cannot prepare him to operate correctly in the presence of a wonderfully beautiful little girl who moves in just behind his rear fence. How will this magical moment divide Mickey's life into a before and after and permanently change his motion, directing it down the unpaved road to which only a lucky few are granted access?

A must for everyone

I decided to listen to Jane Two because I am a fan of Sean Patrick Flannery. What I found in this book is a truly inspirational and moving story. Having Sean read the book brings it to life in a way few audiobooks have for me. The emotion and feeling that pours out is more like a heart's cry than a story.

I would honestly recommend this book to everyone with one exception. If you shy away from cursing or language, you might be distracted and not able to immerse yourself in the story. However, I hope you can put that aside so you can enjoy this wonderful story!

Amazing story but frustrating

The writing and characters were amazing. I would call this book an adventure in a uncomfortable place for me. I don't regret reading it for a minute. It changes you.

Superbly Written and Narrated

After 114 books from Audible, this is my first review that I felt compelled to write, yes it is that good. Best narrated book I have listened to yet, you will often forget it is only one person reading this story. Characters are distinctive & memorable, GrandDaddy's nuggets of wisdom throughout the story are golden. A beautiful story which has you rooting for young Mickey to jump through the portholes of opportunities presented down his life's path. A truly unforgettable novel.

Jane 2 review

I found that this book had so many familiar memories of my own. Everyone should read this to remind them to speak. Lost words hurt. Having Sean read it painted a perfect picture of a very personal memory. I thank him for this. I'll be giving this book to people retiring to kids graduating.

Amazing

This was a slow start, but oh so touching. One of the best I've listened to if not read in years. Great coming of age story, and makes you realize just how short your time is with someone. Worth every second.
