About this listen

More than a decade after the Confederated Earth Forces were defeated, their commanding general, a boyhood protegee, lives in exile and disgrace. His life on an isolated farm is forever changed when two strangers show up at his homestead, and the war comes crashing back down on him. The problem, though, remains the same. How do you fight an enemy that is technologically superior and holds the high ground?

This anthology contains all three Invasion books: Resistance, Day of Battle, and Total War.

Excellent SciFi, loved it

This is a great series and I hope for more books! The Earth’s remaining forces plot to reclaim their planet. sacrifices will be made, lives will be lost, and your favorite characters will have to make choices.

Excellent alien species with their tech are developed in this series, dystopia and chaos among the humans, and the last hope of human army.

This is a fantastic series. I hope there are more books to come

Great Story!

Good performance, great action. Wished it had more for the closing part, but it doesn't ruin the story!

Derivative but entertaining

So many themes in this books have been done before and better. However the author managed to pull a rabbit out of the hat, and made an entertaining book.
The jumping around and short chapters takes some getting used to, but once you pick up on the rhythm of the book it's not too bad. A little more backstory astonishment the inv invaded in the first place would have been nice.

What a great ride

This is a vivid tale of revolt against occupying space aliens told from a military point of view. it is clear the author has a military background. His use of that experience brings a sense of realism that really buts the listener in the story.

Invasion is a high tech military science fiction tale will keep you interested and wanting more from beginning to end. The characters are easy to relate to and like. It really made the miles go by fast.

Fun military sci fi

This book popped up in my search for a different author in a different genre and thought I'd give this a try, since I do love a good military science fiction. Glad I did! The story is surprisingly fresh and the writing is good. I'm not one for complicated story or character arcs and enjoy some good brain junk food. This delivered perfectly.

I did take a while to accept the narrator, who has the perfect voice for this military Sci fi. But at first it seems like every voice he did sounded the the same, not much variety. Towards the end the narrator got better, or I was more into the story and didn't notice.

Overall, well done. 5 stars because it's not a well known author, otherwise 4 stars. Either way, it's worth it.

oops all references

referencing other good space opera does little to place your own work in their realm, and this is chalk full of references to other Sci fi. perhaps a better understanding of orbital mechanics would help you pump your space brakes.

it will do

You've already gone through everything Weber had to offer? Steakly, Drake, Scalzi, all well worn? Try new work by J.F. Holmes. Invasion follows several characters through the occupation, resistance, and overthrow of a murderous alien race knonw as dragons, who travel from planet to planet, enslaving what remains of conquered populations. Oddly, the cast of Holmes first novel IST 1 is present, though that's not really explained except to say perhaps life is different in another realm, which, if you are not familiar with IST novels, makes it hard to know what motivation makes them who they are. That said, the novel is a blur of action and struggles war and death. It kept me engaged because it never slowed down. the writer knows the Military for sure.

Good but not Original. Slow plot. Extra characters

It really could be amazing. it's good but not amazing.
3 hours in and the plot is far too slow. There are way too many characters and it jumps around from plot to plot. I like the story overall but it would have benefited from some editing to tighten up the plot and action to get things moving along. I feel like this could have been an action packed story but it's been stretched thin and stuffed with filler to get a whole book out of it. Way too many characters and cut scenes.

The writer has the book structured as if they hoped to sell it to a network for TV. It has the same sluggish progression like its intended to drop tons of characters and bread crumbs. Very outdated structure. People want to get to the guts of the story. not pick their way past extra characters or tid bits.
