About this listen
Have you ever looked up at the night sky and wondered about the stars? What are they made of? How do they form? And what happens to them when they die?
You'll learn the answers to these questions and more in my audiobook.
No boring lectures, just a fun story authored by an astrophile. Over the next 60 minutes, you’ll enjoy stellar evolution up close. We do our best to capture the incredible birth of stars, the stages of their life, and how their death is the beginning of something new.
There’s magic in watching stars go from creation to chaotic endings. A beautiful and difficult dance to new beginnings.
Starring an entire catalog of stars: Variable stars, Neutron stars, black dwarfs, Binary stars, brown dwarfs, T Tauri Stars, Hypergiants, Protostars, Main-sequence stars, Supergiants, Star clusters, and our very own superstar, the Sun!
Everywhere light goes, It has found that darkness is already there. Darkness is the natural state of the universe. For a star to be born, it takes an astounding number of possibilities to become a reality. From this unlikely alignment, we now have trillions of stars! Thankfully stars would progress to give us light, life, and an observable universe.
In this easy-to-understand yet informative exploration of stars, you will discover updated information about stars, such as:
- How to define a star
- What makes a star
- The different sizes of stars
- Why do stars have different colors
- The difference between the OBAFGKM class stars
- Why do white, black, red, and brown dwarfs exist
- What the life cycle of a star looks like
- And more!
No one knows how many stars exist, but we will tour a handful of the most famous in our known universe. Sit back and enjoy the world of outer space that spreads before you. Each constellation and luminary has a story that you won’t want to miss!

In 1959, the Soviet probe Luna 3 took the first photos of the far side of the Moon. Even in their poor resolution, the images stunned scientists: The far side is an enormous mountainous expanse, not the vast lava plains seen from Earth. Subsequent missions have confirmed this in much greater detail. How could this be, and what might it tell us about our own place in the universe? As it turns out, quite a lot. When the Earth Had Two Moons is an astonishing exploration of planet formation and the origins of life by one of the world’s most innovative planetary geologists.

Icy, rocky, sometimes dusty, always mysterious – comets and asteroids are among the Solar System's very oldest inhabitants, formed within a swirling cloud of gas and dust in the area of space that eventually hosted the Sun and its planets. Locked within each of these extra-terrestrial objects is the 4.6-billion-year wisdom of Solar System events, and by studying them at close quarters using spacecraft we can coerce them into revealing their closely-guarded secrets. This offers us the chance to answer some fundamental questions about our planet and its inhabitants.

Professor Brian Cox uncovers some of the most extraordinary natural events on Earth and in the universe and beyond. From the immensity of the universe and the roundness of Earth to the form of every single snowflake, the forces of nature shape everything we see. Pushed to extremes, the results are astonishing. In seeking to understand the everyday world, the colours, structure, behaviour and history of our home, we develop the knowledge and techniques necessary to step beyond the everyday.

On March 21, 2013, the European Space Agency released a map of the afterglow of the big bang. Taking in 440 sextillion kilometers of space and 13.8 billion years of time, it is physically impossible to make a better map: We will never see the early universe in more detail. On the one hand, such a view is the apotheosis of modern cosmology; on the other, it threatens to undermine almost everything we hold cosmologically sacrosanct.

Since its 2009 launch, the Kepler satellite has discovered more than 2,000 exoplanets, or planets outside our solar system. More exoplanets are being discovered all the time, remarkable in their variety. Astronomer Michael Summers and physicist James Trefil explore these remarkable recent discoveries: planets revolving around pulsars, planets made of diamond, planets that are mostly water, and numerous rogue planets wandering through the emptiness of space.

In Calculating the Cosmos, Ian Stewart presents an exhilarating guide to the cosmos, from our solar system to the entire universe. He describes the architecture of space and time, dark matter and dark energy, how galaxies form, why stars implode, how everything began, and how it's all going to end. He considers parallel universes, the fine-tuning of the cosmos for life, what forms extraterrestrial life might take, and the likelihood of life on Earth being snuffed out by an asteroid.

The ordinary atoms that make up the known universe - from our bodies and the air we breathe to the planets and stars - constitute only 5 percent of all matter and energy in the cosmos. The rest is known as dark matter and dark energy, because their precise identities are unknown. The Cosmic Cocktail is the inside story of the epic quest to solve one of the most compelling enigmas of modern science - what is the universe made of? - told by one of today’s foremost pioneers in the study of dark matter.

A physicist speeds across space, time, and everything in between showing that our elegant universe from the Higgs boson to antimatter to the most massive group of galaxies is shaped by hidden symmetries that have driven all our recent discoveries about the universe and all the ones to come. Why is the sky dark at night? Is it possible to build a shrink-ray gun? If there is antimatter, can there be antipeople? Why are past, present, and future our only options? Are time and space like a butterfly's wings? No one but Dave Goldberg, the coolest nerd physicist on the planet, could give a hyper-drive tour of the universe like this one.

Very Informative and Detailed
This tells the different stages of a stars life, it’s classification by color, how a star is created and a black hole. I learned that our sun is in the beginning of the middle of its life and will last several billion more years before it explodes. But as it gets older it gets hotter. That is not going to help global warming problems, The book also tells what forms a star, the kinds of stars in sky and how to see various ones.. Iif you have any interest in stars you should listen to this book, I recommend it.

Starry, starry night!
I learned so much about the various types of stars, their life cycles, and what happens when they die. The author uses easy-to-understand language, but still packed in details that truly brought the universe to life. Star facts
Take a short journey into exploring the stars with this awesome narration. You can learn about the stages and types of stars. We are always told about black holes and red giants but when all the types were explained, I was delighted to learn our Sun was actually a yellow dwarf. It completely made sense and seems obvious now. You will learn about stars in specific constellations and binary stars. There is a lot to learn in this easy listen.

interesting listen.
I've been getting deeper and deeper into examining our existence on this floating rock of a space station that we live on. This is an intriguing listen with lots of information on what all those millions of sparkling lights are in the sky. It's a good start for anyone interested in space and how our all works out there. I'll be listening to this many more times as I explain existence to my kids as life continues.

Journey Beyond: Explore Stars Like Never Before

Each chapter introduces us to different stars, both famous ones we've heard of and some hidden gems. And trust me, by the end of it, you'll feel like you've traveled the galaxy and back.
