About this listen

Arriving at the new government bunker, things quickly go from bad to worse. I am separated from Finn and my family because of my ability to connect with Arvies through telepathy. Housed with three other readers - and kept away from the general population - we are given serum injections in an effort to enhance our thought transference. The end goal? Thought manipulation.

We are considered humanity's only hope in the war against the Arvy race.

With the ever growing threat of an invasion, the government demands results from the reader program by doling out ultimatums, and using our loved ones against us.

But they will not break me. My name is Abigail Park. I am intransigent.

Good book, rough audio

Ie enjoyed the series thus far. the story line flows well and keeps your attention. The audio on this book was rough to listen to though.

Great continuation, but change of narrator

I enjoyed Erin Moon as the narrator for the books. Rachel Simpson did a good job on her own, but I feel she gave the reoccurring characters her own spin rather then trying to keep it similar. Overall I can’t say she did a bad job, in a different book or series I’m sure I would enjoy her take on the book. I just got super annoyed at her choice of voice for Abby’s dad. He is supposed to be a carrying and strong leader and I just couldn’t get past his voice in this book. When he wasn’t in the scene I was completely fine with her performance, but every time he spoke I would cringe.

i hate when narrators change

great story but why the narration change, the first two book had a great voice, made the voices of each character great, this one makes them ALL sound ...snotty, whinney even. She sounded like Wynona Ryder for some reason. And often sounded like she was recording in a different location, like in her bath tub or something. Word of advice to authors, don't change a narrator half way through a series, it makes the listeners cringe and some even return books at that point....

Exciting from start to finish.

The characters seem to come to life. The narrator was excellent! Bring on the next book.

Really great book, poor job with character voices

Where does Intransigent rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Middle of the pack. The character voices really dragged the ranking down, especially the voice of Stephen Park.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Intransigent?

It has to be the scene during which Abi slays the 10 Arvies threatening Finn, as well as the powerful people who dared to order such an experiments.

What three words best describe Rachel Simpson’s voice?

terrible character voices

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No
