About this listen

From USA Today best-selling author Katie Reus comes the next story in the explosive Redemption Harbor series, where sparks fly and so do bullets....

He wasn't supposed to fall for her....

She was a target; a contract that came across his desk by mistake. Axel was simply going to warn her that she was in danger and get out. Then he got a taste of her and fell hard. But they're from two different worlds. Not only is she innocent, she's out of his league. He should keep his distance, but he can't. Not when someone wants her dead. Now he's driven to protect her, to keep her safe.

What happens when she discovers who he really is?

Hadley moved to Redemption Harbor for vet school and to be closer to her new family. Now that her billionaire father knows about her existence, her life has changed drastically. She just never imagined she might be targeted because of her family. And she definitely never imagined she would fall for the one man she should never want; a man who kills for a living; a man who's obsessed with her; a man who will do anything to protect her from the danger lurking in the shadows.

One of my favorites

Innocent Target is book 4 in the Redemption Harbor series. Wow just Wow! Hadley has had a rough life and finally trying ro build a relationship with her brother and father. Hadley is learning that with wealth complications can arise. A kidnapping hit is put out on Hadley and when she is attacked a stranger steps in and helps her. Is he really a stranger? Axel is hired hitman that learns Hadley has become a target. Axel falls in love with Hadley and decides to keep her safe not matter what. What happens when Hadley finds out what Axel does? Can these two find love despite the differences? An amazing book that I was excited to read. This story has everything you could want in a book, trust, friendship, loyalty, love, and suspense and action! A book for everyone.

Good job

This is the story of brooks half sister and new guy Axel. This was sweet and short but a full story. Narration was great as Sophie Eastlake always is. She does excellent male voices (very important in my humble opinion)

INNOCENT TARGET by Katie Reus

INNOCENT TARGET by Katie Reus
Innocent Target is the 4th installment in the Redemption Harbor series. I really enjoy series books, as we get to catch up with previous story characters in the new story. Katie has a such a way of telling a story to make you care about all of them. This is another great story. It has suspense, heat, well developed characters, and a plausible story.
This one brings us the story of Hadley and Axel. She is a college student that is going to be a veterinarian. She has newly discovered family in Brooks and Douglas Alexander, her brother and father. Axel is a former FBI agent that is now a hired gun. When he has a message come across his desk mistakenly that is a contract to kill Hadley he goes to warn her and ends up protecting her and falling for her. I do not like to give to much a way when I review books so that is all I will say. Sophie Eastlake once again does a fantastic job as narrator for Katie's work.

Another great story in this series

The author takes us back to Redemption Harbor. The home of Redemption Harbor Consulting. A consulting company where the bond of friends is more like family and where family bonds are strengthening. Also where life and circumstances are not black and white , but variations of gray.
As opposed to other stories by this talented author, this one is a little sweeter because even though Hadley, the main female character is a strong , independent gal, she is also younger and more innocent than the characters in previous stories. Axel, the male character, on the other hand, is older in years and experience. In his past life he was an FBI agent, but now is a killer for hire. When her contract comes across his desk, he makes it his duty to protect her. From the moment he meets her, the attraction between them is evident but circumstances make the relationship one that is complicated.
The plot was not only engaging but also thought provoking. Where do we run the line between what’s right and wrong. What would you do when put in a situation in which you have to choose when the law fails to do the right thing?
The narrator, Sophie Eastlake, did an excellent job with the voices.
Once again, kudos to Ms Reus, for another book that has a great plot and complex characters you will come to love. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Life Changes

Hadley has just connected with her father and her brother. It's made a tremendous change in her life. She hasn't really adjusted yet. How will she deal when she learns that a contract has been put out to kidnap her. Hadley has amazing depth. She had a difficult childhood with a competitive mother. She may seem sweet and timid, but she's able to stand up for herself. When she meets Axel, Hadley is attracted to him even though she knows nothing about him. I found that Axel is an intriguing character. He always fought for what was right. When he was betrayed he left the FBI. Now he works in the shadows to make sure justice is served. He came here to warn Hadley. However when he met her, he can't leave. I loved his commitment to protect her. He's dedicated to saving her even if can't make her his. I couldn't stop reading Innocent Target. Hadley and Axel's romance was filled with problems both from a madman and from her family. I wanted them to overcome everything and become a couple. I enjoy coming to Redemption Harbor. It's good to see familiar characters. I laughed when Skye named her rescue puppy after her favorite explosive. This is an exciting series. The action is nonstop. Katie Reus wrote an exciting story. The romance was passionate and the danger was intense. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. The narration by Sophie Eastlake makes this suspenseful story extra special. The Redemption Harbor series is one of my favorites.

Perfect narration, perfect story

Audio-book: Narrator – Sophie Eastlake
I really enjoyed this narration! The tone was great with perfect fluctuation. Both male and female voices were done very well and I never struggled to atune myself to this narrators voice or to decipher who was speaking. Listening to this audio-book was the perfect method for a re-read!

When someone is out to kidnap and torture Hadley, Axel immediately steps in. Just a look at her picture is enough to send his protective instincts into overdrive. Once he meets her face to face, he’s completely gone for the sweet innocent woman who is in a madman’s crosshairs.

Hadley had a rough upbringing and now that she’s met her brother and father she’s finding a contentment she never knew, even if they are a bit overprotective. When she spills coffee on a handsome stranger she immediately feels attraction to him, not knowing that he’s been monitoring her actions. As they become closer Hadley has stars in her eyes not realizing that Axel is keeping a deep dark secret from her. One that has the potential to rip her heart out.

I loved Axel so much! He was so totally in it with Hadley. Every step he took, every decision he made was to keep her as long as he could before the inevitable would happen. Once his secret was revealed there was no way she would want to be with him and my heart hurt at his assurance that all would be over when that day came. And that day must come soon, and he’s the one who must reveal all his secrets to her, quickly. That was just additional angst to an already fraught situation.

Hadley was so sweet. She deserved all the goodness life could offer and she has fought hard to become something more. When things take a drastic turn she never loses her control. She may not be able to physically take down a threat, but she keeps her emotions in check and handles each change in her perceptions with a strength that was compelling to read about. She was the perfect woman for Axel and together they were amazing.

Each book in this series has gotten better and Innocent Target is no exception. Definitely my favorite of the group at this point. Axel and Hadley both checked all my boxes for a great hero and heroine. This is a fast paced read with lots of action, well developed secondary characters that added to the plot rather than bog it down, so much steam you’re going to need a fan, and an ending that will leave you with a happy and contented sigh.
