What do you do when you wake up dead?

Daisy Montgomery was living her best life until she was attacked by a force so powerful that it separated her body from her soul. Now neither living nor dead, her spirit form lacks ghostly abilities like walking through walls, and she can’t communicate with anyone. Except one.

Luckily her connection to her little dog, Alfie, led her to super sexy Charlie O’Sullivan, a man who can not only see her spirit and open doors for her but someone who makes her question everything she thought she knew about her life, love, and almost death.

The more she, Charlie, and his merry band of spirit helpers uncover, the longer her suspect list grows. But when someone else she knows dies, Daisy must use her newfound knowledge to discover who the killer is before they strike again. If she can’t, not only are her loved ones at risk but the killer could come back to finish the job they started the night of her attack. And Daisy’s not ready to rest in peace.

Great Paranormal Mystery!

This is my first book by Beth Prentice and I loved it!  She has quite the imagination and I look forward to listening to other books by her.  I loved Daisy and Charlie, who are the 2 main characters in this book.  Daisy winds up in Charlie’s apartment and sees her dog, but realizes that Charlie doesn’t see her at first.  Once he finally sees her and she realizes she can’t open doors, she thinks she’s dead, because she can’t remember what happened.  Charlie is a wonderful guy, who helps her do some digging around to find out that she is in a coma because she fell and hit her head.  Daisy starts to remember that she didn’t fall and that someone tried to kill her.  This is a fun, suspenseful, emotional mystery where Daisy helps track down her own killer.  I loved this book and can’t wait for the next one in the series. The mystery was solved, but there is still more to the story that I can’t wait to listen to!

Suzanne Barbetta was a new narrator for me and she was fantastic.  Her voices were different for all of the characters and her tones and emotions were great. I hope she will be the narrator for the rest of this series.

Throughly Enjoyable! A Real Treat!

When Daisy Montgomery wakes up in a strange place, she is stunned to find out that things are stranger than she EVER imagined! Thank goodness her little dog Alfie, and handsome Charlie O’Sullivan are there to help her figure out exactly WHAT is going on! “In High Spirits” is a completely delightful paranormal series starter! Beautifully written and fabulously narrated, this story really kept me guessing! Filled with mystery, humor, suspense, and featuring a ton of delightfully quirky characters, (plus a few that I’d like to take for a long drive off a short pier), this one was completely different from anything I’ve listened to before! No spoilers, I don’t want to ruin the surprises this gem holds for anyone! Did I guess the who’s and why’s? No, I did not, but trying to figure it all out as I listened was such great fun, I want more! I loved everything about this one! Five fantastic stars!

Fabulous Book

I absolutely loved this audiobook narrated by Suzanne Barbetta. It had a who done it mystery solved at the end but there is still unresolved issues which will be revealed in the next book. Daisy appears thinking she is dead but is in a coma. She appears in her dog's new home and can be seen by the new owner. Together they struggle to solve the mystery of why she is in a coma. Suzanne did a fantastic job.

Look no further for a hilarious paranormal whodunnit!!

Imagine waking, with no idea of where you are….only to realize that you’re a spirit!! This is now Daisy’s reality, fortunately for her, the house where we awoke has a stranger who can see spirits. As Daisy and her new friend, Charlie, investigate the events that lead to Daisy’s out-of-body adventure, they uncover something more sinister than first thought. Told from the POV of the snarky Daisy, this tale will have you laughing and shaking your head at the antics, then worrying for Daisy and Charlie. Very enjoyable tale and much welcomed break from reality. The new-to-me narrator did a fabulous job portraying Daisy. Highly recommend a listen.

Wonderfully Engaging & Entertaining! Great🎧📚🎧

This is my first book written by Beth Prentice and consider me not only wowed but impressed by her, not only her writing style but for her imaginative and original storylines that are captivating from start to end. The world building and character development are fantastic. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. I adored the two lead characters, Daisy Montgomery and Charlie O’Sullivan, and I was rooting for them from the moment they met. Daisy wakes up in an unfamiliar place, not remembering how she got there, but her beloved dog was with her. Charlie was able to see spirits, so having a strange woman in his place did not really surprise him. He is new to the area and is starting his own business, with only one client, he has some time on his hands and winds up helping Daisy to find out what happened to her. Can you imagine investigating your own murder, seeing your life differently, thinking you knew all the people who you were close to? This paranormal cozy mystery is cleverly plotted, with a perfect balance of drama, humor, mystery, suspense, heartfelt emotions and some amazing dialogue and characters. The author does keeps you thinking and on your toes trying to solve the mystery or who had done it. The paranormal aspect was also fascinating too. Beth Prentice, thank you for this wonderfully enjoyable and entertaining story.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Suzanne Barbetta performs the voices for all the characters, does a great job covering both the male and female roles, giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. She had a complete understanding of the characters she portrayed and was believable in every role she played. She set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them in to her performance and had you feeling every single one. Barbetta is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to, her narration enhanced an already great story to another level. Thank you for another fabulous listen.
