About this listen

Casey knows the truth. But it won’t set her free.

Casey Cox’s DNA is all over the crime scene. There’s no use talking to police; they’ve failed her abysmally before. She has to flee before she’s arrested . . . or worse. The truth doesn’t matter anymore.

But what is the truth? That’s the question haunting Dylan Roberts, the war-weary veteran hired to find Casey. PTSD has marked him damaged goods, but bringing Casey back can redeem him. Though the crime scene seems to tell the whole story, details of the murder aren’t adding up.

Casey Cox doesn’t fit the profile of a killer. But are Dylan’s skewed perceptions keeping him from being objective? If she isn’t guilty, why did she run?

Unraveling her past and the evidence that condemns her will take more time than he has, but as Dylan’s damaged soul intersects with hers, he is faced with two choices: the girl who occupies his every thought is a psychopathic killer . . . or a selfless hero. And the truth could be the most deadly weapon yet.

Story line grips you from the first paragraph

Terri Blackstock has become my favorite author. Her use of vivid words and delving into the characters, make the fictional work seem real. She writes with Character and Conviction. Do yourself a favor and collect her works.

Promising premise, dreadful narration, not my cup of tea.

The narration is distractingly awful that it makes it difficult to really get into the story.
The premise showed promise, but the way the narrator speaks makes it feel like you are always waiting. She makes Casey come off very whiny, and not credible as a character.
The author doesn't set up the backstory in a believable way, so it all ends up feeling like too much of a coincidence. The Christian subtext was not my cup of tea, and I didn't realize it was a Christian fiction novel at the outset. I felt that there were too many preachy moments during the novel to really enjoy it from a non-religious viewpoint.
The note from the author at the end was just ridiculous and had nothing to do with the book series.
Might give the remainder of the series a listen for completion, but not if Nan Hurley is the narrator.

Attention getting but no wrap up

Loved the story, characters, suspense, detail but disappointed it did not wrap up. Not sure if this is one of two but didn't see that in the story summary when I bought it.
Narrator good and easy to listen to.

Suspensful, engaging, great plot/storyline. Enjoyed getting to know Casey/Grace, like her spunk, compassion and tenacity

Loved it until the end already starting second book!

This is a fantastic book, the narration isn't great but the story is very good. I almost stopped listening due to the narration but the story kept me hooked.

Enjoyable

A bit simplistic. Some character traits could have been better developed. Such as Casey's propensity for forensic analysis. Also many details were too conveniently wrapped up. Overall this is a nice novice crime novel, best suite for advanced middle school or lower high school readers.

If I Run (1st book in the series)

It’s been a few years since I’ve read a Terri Blackstock story and I was eager to get started in this series hoping it would as good as her other stories. I was not disappointed.

The story begins with the main character on the run and the whole world against her. The story ends with that same main character still on the run, but with allies that are willing to stand with her. Her own actions run counter to the fugitive her enemies have painted her and there is hope that things just might work out in the end.

Good mystery

Kept my interest with the twists and turns. Refreshing to have a clean story without swearing or sex. The only thing that through me s little was that the narrator didn't change her voice for characters so I had to pay close attention to the chapter titles that named the character speaking.
