About this listen

A YA contemporary rom com about two girls who start as rivals but after a twist of events, end up falling for one another - at least they think so. A pitch perfect queer romance.

Arch-nemeses Emma, a die-hard romantic, and more-practical minded Sophia find themselves competing against one another for a coveted first-prize trip to a film festival in Los Angeles...what happens if their rivalry turns into a romance? For fans of Becky Albertalli's Leah on the Offbeat, full of laugh-out-loud humor and make-your-heart-melt moments.

Underlined is a line of totally addictive romance, thriller, and horror paperback original titles coming to you fast and furious each month. Enjoy everything you want to listen to the way you want to listen to it.

Critic reviews

"The queer romance and the narrative’s determination not to shy away from discussing attitudes of entitlement distinguish this title.”—Kirkus Reviews

“This will appeal to readers fond of light-hearted romances and titles like Tim Federle’s The Great American Whatever and Ciara Smyth’s The Falling in Love Montage.” —School Library Journal

“With heaps of snark and scheming friends, I Think I Love You is a sweet, funny debut that juxtaposes romance lovers with romance cynics and shows that love—against all odds—always prevails.” —The Nerd Daily

It felt like a modern, YA, rom com adaptation of Much Ado, and I absolutely loved it! Wish there’d been a bit more moments between the love interests, but I’d read it again.

Would read again

I thought the book was one that was worth reading, it’s just that I was not a fan of Emma’s voice acting. She did good, just not what I imagined her voice sounding like.

It was… ok.

it is so cute. I have been looking for some new books and this one is so cute. I don't normally get books like this but I think I will get more books kind of like this book.

I love it

It was cute for what it was. I thought it was well written with minor plot holes.
Is it overly predictable...yes.
Is it earth shattering or life changing...no.

It’s warm, light hearted, coming of age tale that does follow tropes but also makes fun of tropes.
It has just the right amount of teenage angst.
One of the voice actors took a little longer to warm up to, but still wouldn’t have been what I would have imagined the character to sound like. But that’s just personal preference.

It’s a cute and safe YA book.

It was cute

A Coming of Age teen romance with enemies to lovers couple plus a too shy to connect couple. Great performances.

Lots of Teen Drama

Amazing story

Excellent narration, Brittany as Sophia especially, though Emma is also great. Straight, but, I can relate to both, in some respects. I'll wait for more from this author.

For her debut, not too shabby.

I felt so connected to the characters throughout the story, and there were so many parts from beginning to end that I just loved, loved, LOVED!!! CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WRITER AND BOTH VOICE ACTRESSES!!!!!

Swooning at This Love Story - ALL THE FEELS!!

As jarring as it was to switch between the two narrators, I still think the larger issue came down to how inhuman the characters felt. They had unrealistic conversations and frequently touched on topics that should have progressed the plot, but instead the just change topics and act like everyone would be totally fine just moving on, ignoring problems, or sometimes just straight up not reacting emotionally to anything said. If you give this book a read try to manage your expectations. I was actually more and more convinced that the characters were intentionally written poorly to show that they were teenagers as the book progressed. Overall I felt like I could enjoy it, but I had several moments where switching narrators, trying to follow the character's thinking, or trying to empathize with the situation just took me out of the story entirely.

Not exactly riveting dialogue

It’s a cute story, I wished we got more of them actually being together. And more of the film process.

Way too short
