Publisher's summary

It's 1989, and Emma and her best friend, Dee, head to the USA to make their fortune. But completely inept and virtually unemployable, they discover that they can't even get a job in McDonald's.

Forced to travel from California to New York with only pennies in their pockets, they bounce from scrape to scrape, surviving on their wits and the kindness of strangers. Bad luck and misfortune throw everything their way - snakes, earthquakes, black magic and incontinent dogs. They even get kidnapped by a sex-crazed midget in a Ferrari. This never happened to Jack Kerouac.

A startlingly honest and ridiculously funny book, I Left My Tent in San Francisco tells the miraculous story of how the hapless pair made it back alive to tell the disastrous tale.

As delightful as her last

She had me howling with laughter, as well as cringing in sympathy with their misadventures.

Unexpected and entertaining coming of age story,

This book is a work of fine art. I came to this title by way of the BBC series "The Kennedy's" and after reading "The Tent The Bucket and Me." The calamity continues. I thoroughly enjoyed the performance by the accomplished author herself. I was brought back to memories in my own life of a time, just starting out in life when nothing is certain and possible mishap, failure and ruin is around every corner plus one doesn't have a dime to spare. (By the way Ms. Williams adobe is pronounced A-dough-bee but you've probably heard that 954 times.) If you are ever in Fort Lauderdale look me up. We have a spare bedroom and an extra car.

Can you say blind adventure?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! This young lady figured out how to survive using her childhood camping lessons, and went on this adventure with a friend-so blindly. And she made it all work! Genius!

What other book might you compare I Left My Tent in San Francisco to and why?

Her earlier book about the bucket. Look it up and listen. You won't be sorry.

What about Emma Kennedy’s performance did you like?

Her zeal. Her attitude-all positive, even at her lowest moments.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Survival of the Fittest.

Any additional comments?

I sure hope another adventure happens. I need the next story! I'm amazed at how this girl camped during her childhood, and took those life lessons with her on her trip and improvised wherever necessary.
