Story
When a loved one dies, the pain of loss can feel unbearable—especially in the case of a traumatizing death that leaves us shouting, “NO!” with every fiber of our body. The process of grieving can feel wild and nonlinear—and often lasts for much longer than other people, the nonbereaved, tell us it should. Organized into fifty-two short chapters, Bearing the Unbearable is a companion for life’s most difficult times, revealing how grief can open our hearts to connection, compassion, and the very essence of our shared humanity.

Deeply moving and with great techniques to move past grief
This book is a deeply moving and thought-provoking book. Jeffrey shares his personal journey through loss, grief, and healing with honesty and vulnerability. His story was especially difficult because it was an unexpected death of his loved one. Those are the hardest to deal with. What really stood out to me was how Simmons was able to express the pain of not having closure in a way that felt real and relatable.
His writing is clear and accessible, making it easy to connect with his emotions and experiences. The multiple stories that touched fibers of my heart and brought tears to my eyes are what will remain with me forever. This book helped me reflect on my own life and the importance of cherishing moments with loved ones. I would highly recommend it to anyone who has experienced loss or simply wants to understand grief better.
