Publisher's summary

"An exhilarating, can't miss, one-sit read that'll stay with you long after turning the final page!" - Ryan Steck, The Real Book Spy

Ten years ago, legendary author Riley Cannon produced three of the best-selling thriller novels of all-time. Then, she vanished, leaving the final three books of the saga unfinished and producing the biggest mystery in the history of publishing. Now, a decade later, there is word from her mega-agent, the glamorous and powerful Topaz Kennedy, that a new Cannon novel is all-but-finished. But, Topaz knows the truth: Riley Cannon hasn’t even started the book. With the clock counting down to the publication date, desperate measures are needed…

Meanwhile, in the sunrise-side town of Hampstead, Michigan, thirty-five-year-old Kaj Reynard emerges from Lake Huron on a cool June night and falls face down on the beach next to a fading bonfire—with a knife stuck in his back. Who murdered him? And why?

Enter veteran Hampstead P.I. Obadiah Ben-David, a man who has never taken on a case that he couldn’t solve. But this mystery is different. The only piece of evidence is the knife, which has no prints. Not a soul saw or heard a boat that night, and the woman sitting by her bonfire did not see anyone else in the water. It is almost as if the deep blue waters of Lake Huron killed Kaj Reynard, and the Huron breezes blew him to shore.

With Hampstead in jeopardy of losing its summer revenue from vacationers who are chilled to their bones of a murderer on the loose, Ben-David takes on an apprentice—a computer coder, Rachel Roberts, who lives down the beach from where Kaj came ashore. Bored by her solitary existence behind a screen all day, Rachel thinks that becoming a P.I. would be a welcome sea change in her own life. But neither of them can foresee the tangled web of lies, treachery, and danger they will encounter.

For when the summer Huron breezes arrive, the blood boils, the inhibitions disappear, and no one is safe.

If you are a fan of James Patterson, Janet Evanovich, Robert B. Parker, Louise Penny, Michael Connelly, Nora Roberts, John D. MacDonald, Lisa Gardner, John Grisham's Camino series, or the TV series Castle, you'll enjoy Huron Breeze and Landon Beach's Great Lakes Saga.

Good Book

I really liked this book… it took a bit to get into the characters but by the end I was attached. Looking forward to the next book in this series audiobook! Scott Brick is the best narrator!

Loved it!

I picked this book up mainly because of the narrator. Scott Brick is one of the absolute best! Landon Beach is fairly new to me. Looks like I have a new author to follow and a great new series to enjoy!

Perfect mix of thriller and suspense

This is book 1 in this series, and I am hooked! I loved the flow of the story and how it kept me in suspense with every chapter. I can't wait to read the next one in the series!

I've not heard of this Author, but you will!

Fantastic! If I had to use a single word, FANTASTIC is definitely the word I'd use!

I actually recommended this book to a friend of mine that moderates an online book club (Facebook)... But I need you to know that I recommended it before I got to chapter 15!!!

The premise of a novelist that has fallen into an uncreative phase certainly is not a unique one, however...

I live in central lower Michigan, literally 2 hours from either Lake Michigan or Lake Huron. Nevertheless, Author Landon Beach conquered the LAKE LIFE every Michigander yearns for!!!

By creating a murder mystery that motivates a stagnant writer inside this novel, we get the dual treat of working with the characters to solve the mystery AND living the author's motivation to start writing again!!!

I have gone on to purchase several more books in this series and I'm eager to see where this goes!!!

This is Monday, June 20th... I started listening to this book on Tuesday June 14th! I'm starting the 4th book in the series, "The Hike", and I think I'm going to need more outdoor chore time to listen to The Hike!!!

I STRONGLY recommend you purchase this and every other book in this series!!! Admittedly, I struggled to finish book 3. but the rest will hold your attention, I promise!!!

Bill

If you think you know "Who Done-it" don't take it to the bank!

At first i thought Huron Breeze was going to be another Great Lakes tail. Boy was I ever wrong. Huron Breeze goes from zero to sixty faster than the waves roll upon a beach or a race car in the Grand Prix. The opening lines are the fabled "Gentlemen, Start your engines". Then the pace car starts moving and the race cars follow. You know the pace car is going to divert off the track but when it does you still get a big rush of adrenaline.
This is Huron Breeze. Like the Grand Prix, there are many Twists and turns. Just when you know the villain or think you do a twist happensI Couldn't wait to hear the next chapter. Landon Beach definitely knows how to lead his readers or listeners where he wants them to go. Be ready to be surprised. Enjoy!

Good characters and plot—woke strikes again.

It seems increasingly difficult to find a movie, tv series or book that tell a good story without jumping on the woke train. It’s passive, yet persistent in every medium now and this book was no exception.

I enjoyed the flow of using “real life” events to inspire fictional characters as it illustrates how the creative process is fueled and inspired. There were solid characters and, of course Scott Brick brought it to life (he’s the reason I chose this book).
