Publisher's summary

When 16-year-old Tariq Johnson dies from two gunshot wounds, his community is thrown into an uproar. Tariq was black. The shooter, Jack Franklin, is white.

In the aftermath of Tariq's death, everyone has something to say, but no two accounts of the events line up. Day by day, new twists further obscure the truth. Tariq's friends, family, and community struggle to make sense of the tragedy, and to cope with the hole left behind when a life is cut short. In their own words, they grapple for a way to say with certainty: This is how it went down.

gives perspective on race.

this book gives a good perspective of the bias diverse youth face on a daily basis and the injustices they endure. it also gives the reader a clear feeling of what opportunities our diverse populations do not get compared to our white populations.

WHAT I SAW-WHAT YOU SAW-WHAT HAPPENED

Sad- example of why justice CAN NOT be blind. is it right or wrong to do the wrong thing for the right reason?????? and who determines the right reason. This book and STAND YOUR GROUND by V. Murray give a straight forward view of perception.
Fictional story of what is happening in America.

Thought provoking

A wonderful story beautifully narrated. Preferred listening to it versus reading because listening to different people's view of how it happened and what it meant to each.
