Publisher's summary

They say monsters are made. I was born one.

With an angelic face and a cursed talent, I eat magic and ask for seconds. When I pass through the land, flowers wither, earth scorches, and colors bleed out—all at the command of my father, the God of Ruin.

I escaped his prison, only to stumble upon a dangerous school ruled by five heirs. Girls fight to fall into their laps, even though they’re all hot mess assholes.

My name is Barbie, but the vampire prince calls me “Little Bob,” mistaking me for a boy. I roll with the punches and pose as a servant boy in the House of Vampires to hide from my father. I try my best to fly under the radar, but the Fates keep tossing me into the path of the cruel princes.

That’s how I bump into Killian, the dark, enigmatic, and most powerful heir. I want him, but he’s the forbidden fruit. He’s drawn to me too, like a moth to a flame.

When he doesn’t like the burn, he rips off my bodice to betray my secret in front of everyone and forces me to enter the cutthroat game of the Brides Selection.

So much more than I expected!

I was absolutely blown away both by the storyline and the narration. Smartly crafted wordplay delivered with snap! I expected a fantasy version of the royal bachelor but got so much more entertainment. Loved every minute and can't wait to listen to the next book!!

entertaining with fabulous narration!

So I'm a weirdo that listened to book 2 first and realized I missed out on way too much by not listening to this book first.

Victoria Mei is truly amazing with how she portrays Bob/Barbie and her alter ego, Sy.

I found this book to be highly entertaining and taken is it's meant to be, whimsical and also outrageous.
Am I looking forward to book 3? Hell yes, I'm invested at this point!

Craziest start to this fantasy series.

HOUSE OF VAMPIRES AND FLAME: Brides Selection Shades of Ruin and Magic Book 1 by Meg Xuemei X
Narrated by Victoria Mei

First off with the combination of Meg Xuemei X’s writing and Victoria Mei’s narration I knew this was going to be an adventure.

There’s so much happening in this fantasy world that has a FMC who stars in this book and is pretending to be a boy. Bobby/Cy share their entity in one body. Barbie or rather little Bob has come to the last realm hiding out of her demented cruel father’s path. He is the God of Ruin and ever since they (Barbie/Cy) escaped him they have been on the run.

Hungry and tired they come upon a school full of super naturals who are vying to find a one true mate amongst the students who will marry one of the princes to stop the fates from ending all magical realms. Hiding as a misfit and outspoken boy who every house wants to be with n control of him is proving to be a difficult place for Barbie/Cy to hide out.

There so much laughter filled goofy moments that occur in this book. And with so many characters to keep my interest I believe this series will be amazing fun.

Victoria Mei is such a talented voice actor. All of the characters are played by her. Each character with a distinctive voice and personality which Victoria is amazing at. I can’t wait to see where these two take us in this series. So much fun and intrigue in this start to the series. Bring it on!

Outstanding!

Right out of the gate this book started off on a run and stayed that way all the way through. So much action and adventure. I really enjoyed it. I always love the narration job by Victoria.
