About this listen

Who is this book for?

Having involved myself with house hacking I realized that this strategy represents a phenomenal solution for many folks. And what's most exciting is that house hacking solves a problem for not just one group of people, but several. In fact there are at least three groups for whom this book will pave the way toward success!

First of all, I have to tell you (and this is based on 10 years of real estate investing experience) that a properly executed house hack is absolutely the most brilliant investment opportunities. This has to be the easiest cash flow I've ever created (and it's substantial). If you've been studying real estate investing but haven't been able to find a way into the game - this is it!

Now, let's say that you happen to live in a very expensive market, and have been priced out of owning a home - this book will teach you how to become a homeowner. Yes, you'll need to learn some things. Yes, you'll need to do a bit of work, because not just any house will work. But, you can own a home for less than you thought because a properly structure House Hack will underwrite your cost!

Or...Let's say you are quite comfortable where you are. But you happen to have elderly parents who are struggling and it is necessary for you to relocate closer to them. The only problem is that homes are very expensive where they live, and you are not sure how to swing the cost of living. House hacking - done!

Or, you are like me, and decide one day that you are tired of living in Ohio and want to relocate someplace where the skies are always blue and palm trees are always pretty. You (like I) want to 10-times your life. However, in a market like this property can be expected to be more expensive and you are concerned about cost of living. How to cope? Indeed, a proper house hack allows me to achieve locational freedom!

Ben’s approach is the perfect way for a newbie to get involved in real estate investing. It’s practice for going big. Additionally, it’s a way to mitigate economic risk. But best of all, Ben helps to remove the shackles that we voluntarily place on ourselves.
This strategy is so powerful I’ve passed it to my 3 children. They have already enjoyed success in real estate and it’ll work for them.

Bright and refreshing perspective

Not traditional house hacking. You can have anything you want as long add it makes you money. This book is about using Airbnb to help pay your mortgage.

the more common approaches to house hacking involve living in multifamily buildings which in our are means living in parts of town and in circumstances that won't be conducive to the family. Ben gives us a new approach that works for those in similar circumstances.

There are definitely some decent nuggets of information in this book. They are layered between lengthy explanations of the way the author lives and bragging about his lifestyle. I don't mind a little bragging, but he tends to say the same thing over and over. I also don't know how qualified he is to talk about house hacking when the book was written after only one or two months of a house back. Not really worth the 6 hours of listening, could've been 3 hours and said the same info.

too lengthy for the info provided

After reading Brandon Turner’s book about House Hacking I wanted to dive deeper and learn more about this philosophy. Unfortunately this book is terribly specific to Ben’s single house hack regarding a property with a Casita. I became very frustrated with the recurring references to his single deal and strategy. There is some references to tax strategy but nothing you wouldn’t have picked up from other RE investment books. Would love to get my money back and time if I could.

Too focused on a very specific Hack.
