About this listen

What would you do if the unthinkable happened?

Where would you find the strength to endure?

The Gordon family was confronted with that very challenge when their five-year-old son, Sawyer, known for his big blue eyes and vivacious spirit, cheerfully pedaled his bike onto their busy road. Moments later, a distracted driver, someone the family knew, stood over the motionless child-the unthinkable had happened.

Part memoir, part Christian apologetic, Hope Remains is much more than a self-help book on grief. It is a transparent story of loss, love, forgiveness, and the unshakeable goodness of God. Colored with humor and stories that make you feel as if you're engrossed in a fireside chat, Hope Remains sends the message that shattered hearts don't have to mean shattered hope.

Life Changing

This book and the testimony shared by Reppard & Summer Gordon has undoubtedly brought me closer to God and Christ our savior. Listening to this book and hearing Reppard & Summer recount the tragedy of losing Sawyer brought back the horrific day where I met both of them. I was a Lieutenant Firefighter Paramedic that responded that day. I performed several advanced life support procedures caring for Sawyer as well as preparing the Gordon’s for the news they faced when they spoke with the doctor at All Children’s Hospital. I have been described as bullet-proof by some of my co-workers for my ability to render care and perform exceptionally well on the worst of horrific scenes. Witnessing Summer praying with Casey was something I have seen only once in my 35 1/2 year career. That moment I spoke with Reppard and Summer forever changed me. I can only begin to wish they saw the empathy I had for them. I knew Sawyer was incredibly critical and was likely not going to survive. I just couldn’t even begin to fathom the strength this amazing family had and their faith in the lord I was witnessing. As painful as parts of this book were for me, Reppard and Summer strengthened my faith in Jesus and God more than any pastor I have ever listened to in church. I am beyond blessed that the Gordon’s came into my life. This book and the lessons it shared giving your life to God has forever changed me. ❤️

Beauty from Ashes

This book was so meaningful and powerful. Summer and Reppard Gordon invite readers into their most difficult moments in order to point them to God's goodness. I laughed and cried while listening, but I'm sure glad I took the time to hear their amazing story.

Grief is simply love with no outlet for expression

At the advice of my wife, I purchased this audio book. Having lost my daughter 4 years ago, this story hit home and perfectly encapsulated the tragic experience of loosing a child. The Gordon’s ability to forgive, perceiver, and use their faith to guide them through the storm is very inspiring. I strongly recommend this book to anyone struggling with grief of any kind as it will provide a positive outlook to those who are suffering.
