About this listen
Sitting in the dark corners of the print shop, Archie Jameson dreams of adventure, never imagining it will find him.
Caught in a chilly October storm, he ducks into a tavern to escape the rain, only to find the room teeming with pirates. Shanghaied, Archie finds himself serving on a ship captained by the fiercest pirate ever to sail the seven seas - Blackbeard.
After several adventures and a twist of fate, Archie captains one of Blackbeard's ships, only to discover a carefully laid trap by Her Majesty's Royal Navy. Plotting a dangerous course to escape certain death, the Jolly Roger becomes lost under stars never before seen. Determined to save both his crew and the woman he loves, Archie's decisions will forever seal his fate, proving the difference between a hero and a villain is only a matter of perspective.
Discover the untold story of the man destined to become Captain Hook.

Exceptional ,
This is an exceptional telling of the story of how Captain Hook came to be. He certainly isn’t the villain Disney portrays him to be in this story. This book is well written and exceptionally narrated by Brad Wills. His variety of voices are spot on for each character as he brings the story to life. It is exciting and creative as well as tragic, in fact you will need some tissues before the ending of this one. This is not a HEA fairy tale, so be warned, however it is well worth the listen. Once again our little fairy sprite has a hand in bringing the man that will eventually become Captain Hook to Neverland. I enjoyed this story even more than the first and being a full length novel it gives us a nice background on Archie, who eventually becomes Captain Hook. I certainly came away feeling totally different about both Peter Pan and Captain Hook than I did from the fairytale I read as a child! Kudos to K.R. Thompson for this unique and creative spin and also to Brad Wills for his talented and exceptional narration. I do hope the next books in the series will be available on audio sometime soon.

Interesting but a sad ending
I did enjoy this book because it was pretty well developed. The main character was the Captain Hook, of how he started out as an ordinary person to becoming Hook. I thought the story followed most of the details of the Disney story of Peter pan except for the background of Hook and how he came to be known as Hook. The story at the end became dark and ended with sad twist. I don't want to mention what that is so as not to spoil the story. However, I didn't like it. I understand that a bit of realism is good for the story, but this is a fairy tale afterall. I like happy endings. Brad Wills always performs well and this was no exception. Love all the voices of Brad Wills.
