About this listen
This, the second book in the series, finds Holly and Wade trying to find the person who left a bottle of drugs in a coat they donated to the church. When Holly realizes that someone has scraped the prescription information off of the bottle, she’s concerned the person may be taking drugs.
It brings back memories of her mother and her drug addiction. Holly’s determined to find the person and reach out, wondering if her life would have been different if someone had reached out to her mother.
If you loved Nancy Drew, you don’t want to miss the second book in the Holly Lewis series by two-time USA Today best-selling author, Dianne Harman.

Someone is stalking Audrey Young. And she has no idea why. Complicating matters is her landlord and new neighbor, Josiah Haven. She doesn’t usually go for the big, surly lumberjack type. She could totally handle the mess that is her life, except the strange feeling of being watched is just the beginning. My love story all started with a letter. Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter. A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for. You see, once a year my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months. So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far. While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father.

Enjoyable for teens and adults!
Holly and the Coat Mystery by Dianne Harman, narrated by Kathleen Li, is Book 2 in the Holly Lewis Mystery Series. This is the first book I've listened to in the series, and I enjoyed it so much! The target audience is tweens and teens, so in addition to continuing the audiobook series myself, I plan to purchase a couple copies of the print version for our classroom library. I'm positive my students will love this one as much as I did! I so excited Dianne Harman decided to write a YA series fit for teens. Thank you!
The narration by Kathleen Li kept me engaged from start to finish. There was one phrase that was repeated twice in a row, but other than that, the audio is of professional quality and completely free of errors. Her words were clear, her voice was controlled, and her pace and volume were spot on! Not only did this make for easy listening, but it also made my overall listening experience relaxing and enjoyable. Bravo!
I give Holly and the Coat Mystery by Dianne Harman, narrated by Kathleen Li, 5 out of 5 stars across the board! Adults will be pulled in by the fun, engaging storyline, and teens will find the characters and their situations relevant and relatable. I recommend this audiobook to fans of cozy mysteries, as well as those who enjoy clean reads involving common issues young teens face today.
Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. Happy listening! :-)

Good YA mystery
I enjoyed this good YA mystery about Holly and her friends who help out with the church coat drive. They find something in a pocket and want to hunt down the coat’s original owner. This book reminds me of the Nancy Drew Books I used to read. The narrator did a good job.

4/5 Holly and the Coat Mystery
Summary:
Holly and some friends do a good deed by helping sort some coats for a church drive. A discovery provides a new mystery for the amateur sleuth.
Additional Comments:
- It’s likened to Nancy Drew. Maybe the new ones where she’s a preteen, but certainly not the old classic books. I may be slightly biased because I really, really liked the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books when I was a kid.
- This one’s more a middle school chapter book. It’s fine for the target audience, but the dialogue is way too formal to be realistic.
- I get it. This is a cozy mystery for kids, so there’s no danger and things work out swimmingly. It’s just so “over-the-top sweet, tied up with a cute little bow” for me to really enjoy it as much as I probably should have.
- Then, why did I give it 4 stars? I’m not the target audience. Aside from one annoying political-esque preachy point, the story moved smoothly from point A to B to C and so forth.
- It’s a fine story. I tend to like more action in stories, but it ends up with a cute feel overall.
- Holly’s got about zero flaws as a character, which makes her a tad hard to believe. Everybody in the whole town is nice and kind or comes around in the end. It’s like a cult of kindness and good feelings.
- The way people treat the MC kinda makes you forget she’s supposed to be a 16/17 year-old kid. I’d have her pegged for 13 or so if judging the other characters’ reactions to her.
- If you’re in the mood for something sweet, light and fluffy, then this does fit the bill nicely.
- Not sure I’d personally jump on a bandwagon to continue the series, but Holly’s a decent kid sleuth.
- Narration’s well done.
Conclusion:
If you like MG mysteries, give this a go.

good standalone YA mystery
I enjoyed listening to this book. It is a young adult book and I found it entertaining. I found it well written, not whiny, and good concepts. If I had had the opportunity to read Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys as I was going up, I would place this the same category. I liked how Holly seeked guidance from the adults around her before she started her quest to find the owner of the coat.
Thank-you Ms Harman for writing a clean mystery that I can recommend to young readers.
