Publisher's summary

Holacracy distributes authority and decision making throughout an organization and defines people not by hierarchy and titles but by roles. Holacracy creates organizations that are fast and agile and that succeed by pursuing their purpose, free from the tyranny of top-down planning that's instantly out of date.

This isn't anarchy - it's quite the opposite. When you start to follow Holacracy, you learn to create new structures and ways of making decisions that empower the people who know the most about the work your company does: your frontline colleagues. Some of the many champions of Holacracy include Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos.com (and author of the number one New York Times best seller Delivering Happiness); Evan Williams (cofounder of Blogger, Twitter, and Medium); and David Allen.

Informative boredom

I so looked forward to an interesting read. I enjoyed the concept and am intrigued by the possibilities. My displeasure came not from the new-wave perspective on self-organization, that was enlightening, but from the verbose delivery of the author. I agree with other reviewers in this forum: less would certainly be more as to the too-many words used. That alone made this book difficult to get through. That aside, the construct presented could certainly work if given the chance. Thanks to the author for sharing this ground breaking system.

mostly about facilitation

This book is mostly about facilitation. The author talks some about the polocracy constitution but that seems to basically define how meetings will be facilitated. that said, there are a number of interesting points about alternative methods to facilitate and how to keep things running smoothly. there are specific facilitation methods for how to change your organization but the book seems to focus mostly on how to run the meeting.

It is worth reading but I was hoping for something a little more comprehensive.

Consensus killer

Missing the visualization as usual with audio books. But inspired to kill consensus in organizations. Especially useless committees in sports clubs.

Good Approach, Not a Book for A Single Read

The concept is very interesting and promising. But I found it a bit hard to follow from audio book format because it is hard to visualize the explanations without seeing physically. Also the book tells a method. So critical points should be bookmarked and listened repeatedly.

Interesting read

Interesting & structured approach. Possibly a good environment to develop emotional intelligence.
Interested to see if it's scalable.

Incredible ideas for a world that desperately need them

This book defines a new paradigm that does so many things which organizations and the world need including clearly defining an organizations purpose and getting everyone in the organization to use their minds to achieve that purpose. When we unleash all of the brainpower and discretionary effort that is currently wasted in the world we will see incredible increases in productivity and innovation. This book provides a system to unlock that incredible potential. Organizations and individuals will benefit immeasurably.
