About this listen

Phenomenal #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts presents a spine-tingling novel about a female cop who walks fearlessly into danger - but must draw on her courage to let love into her life.

Police Lieutenant Phoebe MacNamara found her calling at an early age when a violently unstable man broke into her family’s home, trapping and terrorizing them for hours. Now she’s Savannah’s top hostage negotiator, who puts her life on the line every day to defuse powder-keg situations.

After watching her talk one of his employees off a roof ledge, Duncan Swift is committed to keeping this intriguing, take-charge woman in his life. Phoebe’s used to working solo, but she’s finding that no amount of negotiation can keep Duncan at arm’s length. Especially when a man throws a hood over Phoebe’s head and brutally assaults her - in her own precinct house - and threatening messages begin appearing on her doorstep. Duncan backs her up every step of the way, as she establishes contact with the faceless tormentor who is determined to make her a hostage to fear - before she becomes the final showdown.

High Noon

Great story as you would expect from Nora Roberts, I found the narration merged with the characters so you were often not sure who was talking.I found that a bit disappointing.

High Noon

For me, when I purchase a book, I look for great ratings on the narator. Even a great book can be terrible if it's not read well. I did really enjoy the narator in this book, and a great story line pulled it all together to make this one of my favorites.

Classic Roberts Form

Great action, romance and suspense. The story line was good, fast paced. The narrator is a bit distracting for me as the characters are sometimes indistinguishable. Her voice also takes me to the J.D. Robb characters and accents and throws me off.

Nora Roberts is always a good time!

classic NR suspense

Savannah Police Negotiator Phoebe MacNamara gets called in to talk down a jumper and meets Duncan Swift, bar owner, landlord, entrepreneur. He proceeds to charm her into a drink, then dinner, then a relationship. Phoebe isn’t sure she has room in her already complicated life. Added to that, she needs to deal with an assault from an insubordinate officer; and a threat from a mysterious stranger.
I appreciate Ericksen’s narration, as she is a regular for Roberts/Robb books.

Wonderful blend of comedy and mystery

I truely enjoyed this book. Making me laugh out loud and tear up is not easily accomplished. If your new to Nora Roberts this is a great example of how talented a writer she is.
