About this listen

My nightmares have started closing in. Now I'm just trying to survive them. When my past comes back to haunt me, I find myself relying on the men I've come to care so much about. With their help, and the help of my best friend, I'm trying to navigate the threats - old and new.

When I'm summoned to go before the Council, I have no idea what to expect. Thrust into a world of politics and status I'm not sure I agree with, my unease grows as I struggle to find my place. When my powers develop with the help of my Phoenix, I feel more prepared to take on the unknowns stacking up against me. Will my guys and I be able to face the trials in our path, or will the secrets of a world that's hidden in smoke destroy us before we've even started?

Contains mature themes.

Uuh...

Great beginning to an interesting story, but the accents are... a lot. I have to rewind a lot because i keep laughing.

Steamy and Mysterious

This multi-perspective fantasy speaks to every repressed emotion and sensation alike. Not for immature audiences.

Male narrator is amazing!

I really think that the male narrator is an under utilized talent as I haven’t found much else he has narrated because he did an AMAZING job! He handles 5 different main male characters with distinctly different accents (including Irish, British, and Australian) fantastically well AND he really captured their temperaments and attitudes. I wish this book was duet narration because the female narrator, while fine as Nix, wasn’t able to even come close with her versions of the male characters. It made for some jarring listening.

Narration is a mixed bag... again

Brandon Utah should do all the narration. Every character he does is distinctive and performed well. Heather Costa has a pleasant voice but only ONE voice with little range.

The storyline is amazing.

I love the story and how the characters are building. This is definitely a slow burn. Can’t wait to listen to the next book.

Best books ever.

Honestly, this is one of the best series I have ever listened to outside of Queen's Guard and the royal shifters, this series is amazing, how could anybody not like this book. I am thrilled at the outcome of this book. I am on to the next book and I will surely give a good review after as the boys and mix continue their journey, I will let everybody know how is static, I am about these books!!!!

Great continuation

Yet again another great story. I love listening to Nix and her guys’ story. The narrators do an amazing job bringing the story to life and I especially love the accents they do. A+++

Weak

The FMC is extremely weak and pretty much controlled by the MC's. The world building is pathetic, a male only council of nightmare creatures that everyone fears but no one knows or understands. The MC's keep the FMC almost completely sealed off and ignorant of anything in her world. On top of that she doesn't even care that she is weak and pathetic as she does NOTHING to make herself more knowledgeable or stronger.

awful 😖

I hate when the fmc is treated like a porcelain doll, can't worry her pretty little must protect her from her very own thoughts. so silly. she ends up in danger with little to no knowledge. a bunch of unnecessary chatter about foolish shit yet barely any info on important things, odd interactions between the characters, unbelievable dialogue . can't believe the people who are raving about this
