Publisher's summary

When Felix lands a job taking care of a man recovering from severe injuries, he thinks his life may have just turned around. Anything has to be better than the place he's leaving. There's something about Lane that draws Felix to him and makes him question if this place could finally become a home for him. But when someone begins stalking Felix, he is left to question who Lane is and what actually happened to him.

Together, Felix and Lane will be forced to see just how far they will go to protect each other. Being chased by cops, kidnapping a man, and breaking into a drug operation seems to be his normal since arriving in Lane's life. Felix may be out of his element, but one thing he is sure about is that he doesn't want to leave, even if it costs him his life.

Great Listen!

This was my first Alice Winters read and, honestly, I bought the audio book because I am a HUGE Joel Leslie fan. It was an excellent decision. It's a fast paced read filled with action and humor.

Exciting and humorous crime story.

No one expects great fiction from an LGBT erotic audible book. Sometimes we luck out and find sn unusually good one. Hidden in Darkness was not one of those, but it did provide humor and held my interest until the "Bad Guy" is cought.
The only downside for me is Joel Leslie's narration. I find his voice annoying and try to tune it out otherwise the story is ruined for me.

And Joel Leslie rocks!!!

I bought this audible because I'm a big fan of Joel Leslie job.I found myself laughing a lot with the book, this couple are so cute, my heart aches with Felix life before. They are mean to be and after a lot of dangerous moments only the love can help them heal together.I love again the performance that Joel Leslie did with the characters, he is a genius changing the voices and the emotions with every situation.Love it❤❤Highly recommended to listen.

Good story. Good narration.

This book is a great example of a story that needs to be taken in the context it was written. It's a comedy. It's hysterical if you view as a comedy about people who are in impossible situations and make all the worst choices. If you take it seriously, you probably won't enjoy it.

As an individual with invisible 'disabilities', questionable crisis decision making skills, and a snarky significant other, I thought this book was hilarious. Felix and Lane are perfectly horrible for one another. 😅

The narration by Joel Leslie was nicely performed, and I appreciated the variation in character voices.

My new favorite

Always great. Always funny. But this is the best so far. Definitely will listen to this one again. This combination of narrator and author can’t be beat!

Great story, horrible narration

I've loved all the other series by the author so i bought all 3 of these books while they were on sale and I'm glad I didn't pay full price. The story has been great and I love the characters but the narrator is horrible. Idk if it's just me but he makes all the charactors sound super old like Lane is supposed to be this sexy man and only 37 but he makes him sound like a geriatric. And Felix always sounds whiny and like he's about to cry. It just really takes me out of the story which is great.

Fun Times Ahead

Overall I really enjoyed this story. it was so funny at times and lots of fun. I loved their banter. Flex and Lane were perfect for each other. The 1 thing I struggled with was a whole lot of of "he said" , "I said" , "he asked", "I asked". I don't think I ever noticed it so pronounced in other books I've read. Otherwise the narration was fab... Joel Leslie 🎤💥

Editing audio could be better

Joel did a pretty good job performing, but the pauses were annoying.... "he said." Fun story, though. Good job, Alice. Thanks for the entertainment.

Action, Humor, and Love

This book had it all – humor, action, drama, love, sex, and snark…oh my, the snark! Felix is snarky and cute with a stubborn streak a mile wide. Which is good, he needs all the stubbornness and determination he can muster to go up against the pigheadedness of Lane, the newly blind cop. Felix is hired to be Lane’s caretaker, but Lane wants nothing to do with him. Felix, however, is not about to lose a good paying job just because his client is mad at the world and wants to sulk alone. Through sheer determination, and a quick-witted quips, Felix manages to build a relationship with Lane that soon turns physical and then romantic. While Felix and Lane are busy falling in love, they soon find that despite Lane being injured and blind, he is still not out of danger.

The story is fast paced and hilarious. This humor may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I drank it up greedily. There was a few aspects of the plot and action scenes that may not have been realistic, but that was okay. This book was not about being realistic and was all about being fun and entertaining.

Narration: Joel Leslie does a wonderful job bringing Felix and Lane alive and I found myself laughing out loud in the car as I listened to the book.

Overall Rating: 5 Stars. I really enjoyed Alice Winter’s writing. She has a fun, easy style that flows very well. I also love her humor and creativity. The plot was interesting and the characters were fantastic. I highly recommend this book.
