Publisher's summary

“Luke” Hamilton has been living as a husband and father for the past 17 years. No one but her wife, Nora, knows she is not the man she appears to be. They have raised their daughters to become honest and hard-working young women, but even with their loving foundation, Amy and Nattie are hiding their own secrets.

Just as Luke sets out on a dangerous trip to Fort Boise, a newcomer arrives on the ranch - Rika Aaldenberg, who traveled to Oregon as a mail-order bride, hiding that she’s not the woman in the letters.

When hidden truths are revealed, will their lives and their family fall apart or will love keep them together?

Simply adorable

It is just as good as the first in it's own unique way. It's characters are still written with just as much love and care. I would definitely recommend it to anyone feeling a bit unsure in trusting a sequel.

Fantastic Sequel

The first book is better, but this one is very cute and another great read. I wish it was more dramatic, so much seems to be too cutesy and easy going.

Superb Story!

The second book in the Oregon series was absolutely superb. I loved getting to follow these c characters as they grow and evolve. Jae's writing is amazing and the narrator of the audiobook does a wonderful job bringing these characters to life and relaying their emotions throughout their journey. I'm so impressed with Jae's writing style and her ability to bring Oregon in the 1800s to life so vividly. Seeing the Hamilton family years after they make it to Oregon and how Amy and Nettie grow up into wonderful young women just makes my heart flutter. I highly recommend this wlw series to anyone. Jae does a wonderful job writing the complexities of these characters and this type of storyline. VERY IMPRESSED!

Excellent sequel

I loved Backward to Oregon so snatched this up when I saw it on Audible. I was not disappointed. In fact, Jae never disappoints as an author. Her books are detailed and filled with insight into the emotions of her characters. Hayden Bishop also does an excellent job narrating the book. I listen to a lot of audio books, and I'm pretty picky about narrators. This is a title you don't want to miss.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book

Oh gosh I'm not sure if I loved this more than Backwards to Oregon but I definitely loved it! I loved seeing the Hamiltons and their lives continuing. I just loved it. I enjoyed the performance too.

And as always I appreciated the amount of research that Jae clearly did to make this book feel real. All the stuff about horses and the cotton mill and the period and even the dislocated shoulder- it all makes the characters and universe feel real and I loved it.

I love Nora and I hope I'm half the mother she is one day. And I certainly hope I get a relationship like her and Luke have.

I definitely recommend this book and all of the others Jae has written (okay I haven't read all of them but I 100% recommend the ones I have read so I feel secure in recommending them all).

And I hope everyone reading this has a lovely day!

An Excellent Sequel

This story is every bit as charming as "Backwards to Oregon." This tale of the next generation is just as full of dramatic tension, inspiration, and delight. I found myself really caring about these characters. A joyously engrossing read!

I have only one small quibble with the narration. Don't get me wrong; this narrator is excellent performer. She created varied voices for all the characters, keeping them clearly differentiated. But the consistent mispronunciation of several key words drove me a bit buggy. The most oft-repeated mispronunciation was "Calvary," instead of "cavalry." Calvary is Middle-Eastern mountain, not a mounted military division. Why can't people keep these straight? And why did the director or producer not catch and correct this?

so satisfying

another lovely happy ending story by Jae about characters from Backward to Oregon. The narrator is the same. I was a hit annoyed by the narration in the first one, but it was smoother for this book although her pronunciation of a few words here and there was jarring (taffeta, cravat?l anyways, I still recommend it for a heartwarming read.
