About this listen

I use people. Not in a malicious way, but in the way an addict abuses their substance of choice. People are my vice - men specifically. I crave the emotional high they give me, with a unique and reckless disregard for my own well-being - eagerly floating into an unsustainable euphoria, knowing full well that after every high comes an equal, if not more powerful, plummet into a devastating abyss. But like every junkie, I crawl willingly back into the arms of my demons.

Oh, the price we pay to feel loved. We'd all sell our souls to the devil himself for that. Perhaps I have already.

They say that acknowledging that you have a problem is one of the first steps to recovery. Well, in that case, my name is Charleston Smith, and I have a f--king problem.

Such a relevant book.

I think Anne Jolin dealt with some important issues and questions that women are faced with nowadays. The way we interact with men and society's expectations is so nicely approached.
A necessary read to a woman in the beginning of the 21st century. Grief and the repercutions faced by a family that fought addiction are so vividly portraited.

No True Fairytale Ending

Since this book deals with the subject of addiction and loss from the prospective of a sister for her brother it's a touching story. I even understand why the author chose to make the lead character her own hero. If you are ok with a non-cliffhanger, cliffhanger this is the book for you.

Not an ending I expected

So I think most people already commented about the open ending, the ending leaves it up to you to decide the last person she chose, and even though I didn't like it, I understand. The narrator made it a little hard in the beginning to listen to the book as her breathing got the better of me, but when I start off with a book I always try and finish it. I wasn't able to o relate to the character that much but I could relate to the pain, and I had a good cry at the ending. Not the best book I have listened to, but not going that bad either

lies inside

she's in a relationship with Bo, fucking Dean, and kissing Maverick. That's the definition of the whore that she claims she is not.
