Publisher's summary

Cathy O'Dell never felt at home until she moved into the tiny apartment at the back of the Honky Tonk beer joint. Now she figures she's here to stay, loving every minute of the rowdy crowd, down-home jukebox music, and constant pool tournaments - until in walks a ruggedly handsome oil man who tempts her to trade in the happiness she's found at the Honky Tonk for a life on the road with him.

Gorgeous and rich, Travis Henry travels the country unearthing oil wells and then moving on. Then the beautiful blue-eyed new owner of the Honky Tonk beer joint becomes his best friend and so much more. Sparks fly so bad they're likely to set fire to the beer joint, if the two don't go up in flames themselves first - but when his job is done in Texas, how is he ever going to hit the road without her?

Excellent

Maybe Carolyn Brown needs to write suspense. The scene in the shack with the rats was intense!!

No spoilers: The skinny on this book

Ok I am in quarantine and welcomed this second book in Carolyn browns new series that came out on 3.31.20! I read the first and waited a day before jumping into this book.

Firstly: reoccurring themes in her cowboy books - country music lyrics( red neck woman), the phrase “long easy strides”, a defiant female character, “curls that touch the collar”, angular face, older characters with lots of wisdom, country cooking recipes, and non-traditional love stories!

If you have read the Longhorn ranch series you will notice even more similarities to the characters and events😘it is such a great series.

The main character is almost strong to a fault. I love her strength but most women wouldn’t fight so much against someone who they are attracted to. At times the endless list of names of new introduced characters at the honkey tonk kept me going back (30seconds on audible)to make sure I didnt miss significant characters to the plot! All in all it was a great book and each book contains updates about the others characters in the book series which is nice! Go ahead and read it! One spoiler chapter 12! chapter 12!
