About this listen
After struggling for years to have a child, Claire Rasmussen, 34, turns to adoption, only to find new obstacles on the path to motherhood. Then, she gets an unlikely phone call and soon learns that a distant uncle possesses the secrets of time travel. Within weeks, Claire, husband Ron, and brother David find themselves on a train to Tennessee and 1945, where adoptable infants are plentiful and red tape is short.
For a time, they find what they seek. Then, a beautiful stranger enters their lives, the navy calls, and a simple, straightforward mission becomes a race for survival. Filled with suspense, romance, and heartbreak, Hannah's Moon, the epic conclusion of the American Journey series, follows the lives of four spirited adults as they confront danger, choices, and change in the tense final months of World War II.

Emotional and touching time travel book
The very beginning of this story was quite emotional and I have to say I wasn't prepared for it. I almost decided to listen to something else but I'm happy I continued on. I've listened to a couple books from this author and have honestly enjoyed each one. As with this story, the journeys back in time are believable and the characters are especially fascinating. Hannah's Moon is a wonderful story of a couple who desperately want to become parents but are unable to have a child. They go back in time to adopt. I love this idea for a story and the author does a wonderful job of creating a believable storyline. The narration was very good but I could have done without the "David said", "Claire said" etc. I found this very distracting. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Wonderful Historical Fiction & Time Travel
What did you love best about Hannah's Moon?
I loved the whole book! This was such an emotional journey, it started out so sad with Claire and Ron's struggle trying to start a family and having a still born baby. Then to see their joy as they get help from a family member in adopting a baby. To do so without the years of waiting that comes with adoption they travel back in time to 1945 toward the end of WWII and the story takes off from there. There are trials and adventure with an up close view on what the world looked like then and some the events that lead up to the end of the war. I truly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to those who enjoy historical fictions. It was a wonderful read and a "clean" book free of sex, language and overly descriptive violence.
Which character – as performed by Allyson Voller – was your favorite?
Allyson did a wonderful job narrating this story. My favorite characters were Claire and Margaret.

A+++++ 5 stars for the 5th book
Any additional comments?
This book was the 5th in the series and I find them all enjoyable and entertaining. I love the research that goes into these historical fiction books and that they're accurate. So far these time travelers all go back in time. I look forward to the next book in the series because I think that will change and we will get to see what John Heldt's future looks like. I'll be waiting.I agree with an earlier review that the narration was very good but I could have done without the "David said", "Claire said" etc. I too found this very distracting.

Perfect end to the series
I received the audio version generously from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you!
This was an excellent end to the American Journey series. Not only was the story of Hannah and her family unique and heart tugging, it was also a well written tie up for all five of the novels.
The setting brings us back to WWII and Heldt does a great job of not repeating events. He instead gives us a look into both sides of life - active and homefront - with realism and emotion.
The narrator was the same woman who performed a few of the other novels in the series. She’s not awesome, however it seems she has gotten better with this last novel, thank goodness.
Overall, I really enjoy his stories and again assert that if romance, family, historical fiction, and time travel are interesting to you, then Heldt's novels should be at the top of your list.

Interesting book
I have not had the pleasure of reading/listening to the other books. I found this book very realistic. As a historian I love the authenticity of the time. The time travel aspect is a great vehicle for the book. The idea of going back in time to adopt is a good premise. The twists and turns keeps you listening. The narration was good. I enjoyed listening to her voice. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Another Great Book!
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Everytime I read or listen to one of John's books, I learn a little bit more of history and I really enjoy it.
This is another one of those books.. When Clair and Ron suffer miscarriages and still born, they are given an opportunity from a distant relative to adopt, only in the past.. 1945 to be exact. A third on the trip is Clair's brother David.. he's the manager.
While there, Ron tries to be a good samaritan by breaking up a racial fight, only to be arrested himself and given a choice to enrol in the Navy, which he does.. what harm can come, the war is almost over. Not for Ron..
David meets the neighbour, but she's promised to another unfortunately.
With all of these books, it's great to see the development of the characters.
I highly recommend this book..
