Publisher's summary

Jane Lawless is a woman at a crossroads - her lover has left, she has finally recovered from a vicious attack sustained last year, and the holidays are closing in. With no one to help her ring in the new year, Jane reluctantly agrees to accompany her good friend Cordelia Thorn on a peculiar holiday trip: Cordelia's estranged sister, Broadway star Octavia Thorn, has asked them to attend her wedding.

Octavia getting married is no surprise - she's done it three times before - but her candidate for hubby #4 certainly is. Roland Lester is a reclusive 83-year-old retired Hollywood director, a relic from the golden age of Tinseltown with a controversial past. No one can understand how the two met, much less fell in love. When the bodies start to drop, Jane realizes it might not be love at all that brought the young diva and the aged director together, but something much deeper, and perhaps more sinister.

Delving deep into film history, Jane finds unsettling connections between Roland and a murder that was never solved. Finding out what happened 40 years ago could be the key to unlock the mystery of Octavia's curious marriage, but laying bare such long-buried secrets also promises grave consequences for everyone involved.

Sloid mystery , Lesbean slueth

I enjoyed the story but could never quite get why Jane was investigating. She is not a cop, or a P. I. and she barely knew the victim. Jane is a Restaurant owner, though she doesn't seem to go there much. She is a lesbian, but only her closest friends know, And she says nothing when others spout hate toward gays, something that happens a lot in this book.

The most interesting character is Jane's best friend, Cordelia.

I enjoyed the story and read the next in the series, which was better, bu I don't think I will buy the rest of the series. I prefer more humor, stronger characters, and less politics in my entertainment.

Good but confusing

I made it about halfway through, but couldn't handle anymore. The book that I was listening to, has nothing to do with the synopsis about the book. The synopsis said it was about Cordelia's sister's wedding, instead it's about a lesbian sorority girl that is murdered.
That aside, while it is a decent book...there are so many off topic situations that it is just confusing.

I had a hard time getting past the narrator.

I had high expectations given the number of books in the series. However I found that the narration was really tough; I felt like she was reading for very simple minded people. Nice voice, but I don’t like being talked down to

The story drags on

The narrator is very droll, stopped 1/3 in, and couldn't listen anymore it was painful.

Overall good book

The story was good and flowed well. The narrator was very bland. Pretty predictable ending.

Fun mystery

Where does Hallowed Murder rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I enjoyed the first book in this series, not only is it set in my state, but the characters and story had me listening til the end to find out "who dunit", well done.

Any additional comments?

I will be looking for book 2

My Fault

I should have read the reviews and the description of this book. If I had, I would have known that this was not the book for me. It's not that it's badly written, I simply can not get past the attitudes in this book.
