About this listen

Every werewolf knows the meek won't inherit the Earth.

Fen Young is a half-shifter whose inner beast is more mouse than wolf. Home is her castle, the only place she's ever felt safe.

Enter Hunter Green, an uber-alpha strong enough to stop traffic with a single look. He's handsome and enticing and seems like just the ticket to broaden Fen's horizons...until the uber-alpha brushes off his admirer and summarily rejects her from her home pack.

Now treading water in the no-man's land of outpack territory, Fen must confront a missing pack mate, a tantalizing stranger, and a serial killer targeting half-werewolves. Will she be able to shore up her waning power in time to save her friend...and half-breeds everywhere...before it's too late?

USA Today best-selling author Aimee Easterling's new urban fantasy novel is chock full of adventure, romance, and danger and is bound to leave readers craving more.

Engaging Read (3.5⭐️)

I liked Fen and was curious about her since she was first introduced to me in the Wolf Rampant series. So I was happy to learn she had her own story.
This segment of Fen’s journey is an interesting one.
Fen starts off as a character that is unsure of herself and her abilities.
As her story progresses the reader gets little glimpses of how strong and intelligent Fen could be.
One of the things I liked about Fen was her courage. I liked how even though she may have been filled with fear she stepped up and fought for those she loves and herself.
I feel as Fen grows and comes more into her own that she might actually become quite an amazing kick butt character.
This part of her journey ends with Fen making some difficult choices and preparing to face emotions she’s been holding deep inside. Maybe she might even find some answers.
I look forward to finding out what the future has in store for Fen and seeing how her character develops.

Great spin-off series

Not realizing that this was a spinoff book from a different series from the author I am rather pleased to say that I wasn't completely lost with the storyline as I have been in other books. The author does a wonderful job of letting the reader know a little from the previous series, without spoilers that would ruin that series, so we are not completely lost. I can't wait to listen all of the books now

Unique and a bit crazy

I liked that this is an unique read, and I was entertained the whole time. It was a rough start for me in the beginning, but as the story went on, I like the direction it took. I listened to the audio version and the narrator didn't do it for me; it sounds a bit weird to me. She was almost robotic and the emotion to her voice didn't fit what was happening in the book. It doesn't flow, it does get a bit better as the story progresses though, but still not one of my favorites.

I didn't really like Easterling's take on shifters. They are jerks and too horny; they can't control themselves. Both the men and the women. I did like Fen, but her self-deprecation was a bit too much. She doesn't read people very well, but she holds her own. She's actually pretty tough, she just doesn't make the best decisions.

The whole scenario with one of the wolf shifters, Ginger, was gross. She would tease men by being completely nude and rubbing up on people. It was all very unpleasant.

I also didn't like that the mates scenario didn't seem to be that big of a deal.
Mates is one of my favorite parts of shifter books, I love the deep connection it provides. There's a bit of that connection here, but I would've like more. There was some really weird actions between Fen's mate and a 16 year old wolf. I think it was supposed to come across as protective on his part or wolf like, but it came off as more inappropriate. It wasn't a big thing; just a few small things, but it still felt weird.

The romance does have its sweet moments though, and I do like Fen's mate. He's there for Fen when she needs him. The story does start to pick up though, and I wanted to know what would happen. There's a bit of mystery going on, and there's some fun action. Overall, the story is engaging and draws you in, so despite a few things, I went with a 4 star rating. Half Wolf is a unique story with unique characters. It's a fun read. I also would like to see where Fen ends up, so I'd like to check out the next books in this series.

Fun shifter read with lots going on.

Fen was a great character who had a lot on her plate. Lots of action and touches of humor with lots of twist in the story. I really enjoyed her character and I also loved the interaction and chemistry with Hunter. The narration was done at a good pace. The story itself was interesting and unique. Loved it!

Excellent Book

I loved reading this book and the audio version is truly excellent.
I was spellbound all over again listening to the tale of Fen and Hunter. How can a halfie wolf hope to sustain alpha position to a group of wolves and another halfie. Listen as they go from one dangerous situation to another, growing and learning their strengths and weaknesses along the way.
Aimee Easterling is one of my favorite authors and I loved listening to this book.

Great Series Starter!

I love listening to stories after I've read them. The narrator just brings the story to life. Fen is a halfie wolf trying to be the alpha for her pack of other halfies. She's learning as she goes, and struggling with who to trust. Enter Hunter, the wolf responsible for her current predicament. What are his motives, can she trust him? Finding themselves in dangerous situations repeatedly, Fen finds inner strength and learns just what it means to be the Alpha of her pack.

Awesome read.

I really liked the story. I felt that the fight to survive as well as the need to protect was well thought out. I hope book 2, will be just as good.

New Series

Fen is our focus character in this new series and boy do I love her some times she does my head in but most of the time I love her character. I’ve read the book and now I’ve listened to the book and each time I read a book and then listen to it I’m surprised by just how much more I enjoy it or go to myself I don’t remember that. Another good thing to make an audiobook successful is to have the right narrator for the book. Ms Easterling hit the nail on the head with choosing Angel Clark. Angel was a new narrator for me but I did thoroughly enjoy listening to her.

Fen starts to be an alpha

I’ve been a Fen fan since the start and wanted to know more about her. I got a lot more of her in this book. I was shaking my head since the start of the story. I really wanted Fen to be able to reach out and listen to other wolves and not dismiss them. I wanted her to be more aware. However, I guess that is part of the story, where we know better than the heroine in the story. We’re the ones yelling, don’t go in there, etc. Fen got to do a bit of stretching herself and learning about what it is to be alpha. Her packmates got to learn what it is to be a pack. I’m glad this is only the beginning of Fen’s story.

Angel Clark did a good job voicing Fen and giving the timid voice to as well as boisterous voices to the other packmates. The flow was pretty good with a lot of internal voicing for Fen. There were the blank spot pausing, but I did not find them overwhelming nor annoying. The story overall was a good listen.

Very entertaining!

Aimee Easterling is a great writer. I really enjoyed the story. I wasn’t fond of the narrators voice, but that’s just me. She read good and was able to carry the story. There was adventure and romance and a fair bit of chuckles in the story as well! I highly recommend this book to others!
