About this listen

CONTAINS EXPLICIT BUT NECESSARY AND TRUTHFUL MATERIAL.

Dear God,

Please save my family. My father lays dead in the street at the hands of another black man so I don’t have a role model. My mother is lost in the projects, using poison to escape her pain. Sometimes it’s unbearable. The sounds of random men pounding away inside of her are horrific. I’m too small to do anything but tremble in fear. The lights are always out and we sleep by candlelight. Me and my sister sometimes wake up to no food, and no one to take care of us. I’ve become the man of the house and I haven’t reached teen hood. Yesterday I had to use the gun my father gave me to scare a white man off. He was in the process of violating my mother, because she was nothing more to him than an instrument to get off. He’d already taken what he wanted sexually. It wouldn’t have been a thing to take her life. God, could you please turn my home into a sanctuary and heal my mother? Could you give us food to eat every day, help us pay our bills, and give us a mother who hasn’t transformed into a demon? Could you make sure she gets a man who love, honors, and respects her so she can transform from the monster she is, into the queen she used to be? Could you allow Heaven to shine into our home, if only for a moment? Hell is no place for a child.

Amen.
