About this listen

WARNING: While these are not topics I typically write about, this story does contain scenes of animal cruelty and sexual assault.

In a small town in New England, against the backdrop of an abandoned amusement park, horrors will unfold.

Shelly will soon learn not everyone is who they seem. Not even Shelly herself.

Wow! Frantic for more work by Greenwood!

Tight writing, mesmerizing story arc, highly visual setting, well-rounded main character, a bit dark, a bit disturbing--Gage Greenwood packs A LOT into this short fiction piece.

The main character, Shelly, isn't a good person.

Shelly's flaws and struggles are a big part of the story, but they're still a sympathetic character with believable quirks. That they're so sympathetic and so believable makes the story even more chilling.

No matter what you're expecting from this book, you're in for a surprise.

The narrator does a great job throughout with pacing. The recital of the text is beautifully pitched with nice intonation. This adds a ton of ambiance to Greenwood's short (but frighteningly effective) tale.

5 stars. Highly, highly recommend!
