About this listen

A pair of frenemies navigates the shallow depths of a small-town dating scene only to find the romance they need is right in front of them.

Former ballerina Marlo Jonas has all the right moves - except when it comes to men. Her latest boyfriend? A cheater. In the wake of her breakup, her father has a novel idea for her: try dating men for who they are and not how they look. This makes it easy to ignore her hot nemesis, Seattle Times reporter Ben Wexler-Lowrey.

Ben’s take on romance means spending time with interesting women whose personalities might sparkle more than their looks dazzle. But Ben’s mother thinks he can fare better. He’s never tried online dating before, but what could be the harm in putting himself out there?

As Marlo and Ben both suffer through a series of hilariously awkward dates, they’re left feeling empty. Marlo needs someone empathetic enough to soothe her past hurt. Ben needs someone who truly sees him for the man he is.

These enemies love to loathe one another; could that mean Marlo and Ben are foes in love?

Critic reviews

“Bardsley returns to small-town Harper Landing (after Sweet Bliss) with a charming, uproarious romance…As Marlo and Ben navigate knee-slappingly disastrous dates, their walls break down and they discover what they’ve been searching for. Their humorous transformation from enemies to lovers is a delight.”Publishers Weekly

“A charming small-town romance…fantastic and hilarious.”Harlequin Junkie, Top Pick

“Bardsley is a talented writer with a gift for conveying all the foibles and charms of small town life. Perfect for those who enjoyed her charming debut, Sweet Bliss, Bardsley’s standout sophomore effort is a wonderful romance with equal parts humor and heart.”—Elizabeth Everett, author of A Lady’s Formula for Love

I loved this small town romance. The characters were so quirky and love able and Jennifer had a way of making them seem real and the narrators helped them come to life. The book had a nice flow. I hope that Jennifer writes about other characters in this small town. Such a nice read with all the warm feels. Cannot wait for the next book!!

Refreshing romance

Might have been a good story.....needs some serious editing and a better narrator. The narrator insults Texans by performing their parts as if they are uneducated hillbillies. It was painful to try to listen to.

The entire book was very painful to listen to.
Don’t know how I finished it. Just kept thinking it had to get better—-Sadly, it didn’t.

Not worth a credit

This narrator is horrible! I have no idea about how good the book is as I couldn't finish it.

The narrator can make or break a book. I could not listen. I tried. Maybe one day I’ll have time to read the book myself.

Terrible Narration

The first end the series was OK so I thought I would give this second one shot as well. But I really can’t get through it. I’m halfway through, it’s boring, it has every stereotype about individuals from the Pacific Northwest, and the characters aren’t likable.

Halfway through and I can’t finish
