About this listen
When Lis is hired to steal a valuable amulet by her unscrupulous employer, she doesn’t anticipate that she will be coming face-to-face with an angry bear-shifter.
But it’s not just the possibility of a big pay day that attracts Lis to the job, and getting snowed in with the bossy shifter in his secluded cabin leads her to question all of her life choices.
Gold & Shadow is the first in a series of seven spicy fairy tale retellings, each featuring a different magically gifted Nightshade sister as she finds both intrigue and romance.

Marina has known for a long time that she doesn’t want the life her parents want for her, but when they announce her betrothal to the steady but dull captain of the guard, she reluctantly accepts her duty. That is until an enemy siren is captured and presented to her father, and Marina can’t think of anything but amber eyes and wings. In a twist of fate, Marina finds herself the prisoner of an enemy king in a plot to end a centuries-long war between their peoples that can only end in either death or heartbreak.

Story
I’d known exactly who he was—the Unseelie prince. But I hadn’t known just what he was. I’d been fooled. The creature I’d formed a tentative friendship with in my family’s dungeon was not the gentle, intriguing prince I’d thought him to be. He was a monster. A bloodthirsty beast. And I’d helped him escape my uncle’s clutches. Such a betrayal called for severe consequences, and the price of releasing the biggest threat our kingdom had faced in hundreds of years was not one I would survive.

Loved!
Gold and shadow
Absolutely swoon worthy! I was a little nervous about listening to a novella, as I always feel like I am wanting more after a short story, but this was such an amazing story and I felt fulfilled afterwards! I love the idea of having an over arching story and then getting to learn about different characters along the way. Madeleine is an absolute genius in the way she writes. Absolutely my favorite author and another Nella. I will be coming back to. More, please!

Little thief!
This story was exquisite. I ate it up and even listened to it twice because I couldn’t get enough of it. I absolutely enjoyed this Goldilocks retelling with a sexy bear shifter and the little thief. I definitely recommend the audio book. The quality is top notch and the voice of the male narrator E.M. Wylde was uffff, so sexy. The female narrator doesn’t fall behind. She did an amazing job as well. Her voice was heavenly to listen to.
