Publisher's summary

Unsung heroes and murderous villains, hidden forever in ancient shadows, now leap to life.

Gideon, a lowly woodcutter, is blessed by an angel to be the savior of all Israel. He does not know why or how and shrinks from this dangerous mission. The commandment to conquer the Midian Empire as one man seems all but impossible. But Gideon's confidence grows as God guides his every step until he stands fearless and faithfully fulfills his destiny as a mighty man of valor. The fierce warriors, burning towers, and devastated cities are but silver threads that weave into a sweeping tapestry of ancient intrigue. Running through and stitching together the entire saga is The Lord of the Covenant, or The Baal-Berith, also known as Gideon's mysterious Ephod of Gold.

Following the Road Less Traveled

Narration was very good. The way the narrative was written, there was very little need for Bernson to approximate female voices.

This story details the story of Gideon and his Creation, the idolatrous golden ephod. What's interesting is that the author deliberately chose to omit following the usual lineup with the prophet Samuel or the distraction of David's romantic life. Instead, by following the Road Less traveled, he brings Gideon, his children, then the priest Eli and his descendants into sharper focus. He steadfastly follows the path of the Golden Ephod which brings the ordering of historical events into a path all its own. Very, very well done!!😁

Refreshing and imaginative

Mr Ganci breathes new life into some lesser known, but intriguing stories from the Old Testament.

His retelling builds on the established account and adds historical insight and reasonable connections between locations, people, and events.

The colorful linguistic imagery magnifies the reader's (listener's) experience. I frequently felt myself smiling as phrases were particularly refreshing.

Mr Bernson's performance was solid. His voice contributed to an overall enjoyable experience.
