Story
The shadow of Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes would inevitably fall across much of the crime fiction that followed that most famous of detectives. However, in 1910, G.K Chesterton's unassuming, devout, and unprepossessing Father Brown made his first appearance and proved no less of a fascinating figure who would stands firmly on his own two ecclesiastical feet. Head Stories presents the first in a series of the complete Father Brown, read by Simon Hester with original music.

A vivid and affectionate portrait of the residents of an English country town in the mid-19th century, Cranford describes a community dominated by its independent and refined women, relating the adventures of Miss Matty and Miss Deborah, two middle-aged spinster sisters striving to live with dignity in reduced circumstances. Very Creepy
I love Victorian/Edwardian English Horror. For me it’s the best setting for this type of tale.My favorite writer of this genre was M.R James. I was surprised by the “Judges House” by Brahm Stoker. I had heard a dramatized version of this story from the BBC’s series “Fear on Four” and it was awesome. The story itself is great. It’s the rats I think that gives it the ultimate creep factor.Very entertaining.

Excellently Told Classic Tales!
If you're looking for some classic horror tales read by superb narrators, this is your audiobook! Although only 2 hours 18 mins long, I find this a great purchase (I got it on one of the frequent sales). The narrator on the first two stories was my favourite, and I enjoyed The Phantom Coach the most of all of them with The Judge's House as runner-up. Check this one out if you're a fan of classic horror!
