Each Roman Catholic parish compiles a Book of the Dead from the lists of departed loved ones submitted by parishioners. Printed on the front of the envelopes are three words: November Dead List. At first he thinks it's someone's idea of a joke. Then the people named start turning up dead.

Story
When a well-known British TV historian, Marmaduke Godolphin, is found murdered in the canals of Venice during carnival, stabbed by a stiletto blade, the Venetian police are eager to have the case solved and cleared up within a day—murder is bad for tourism! The police recruit the help of retired archivist, Arnold Clover. Godolphin had hired his services on arriving in Venice to help sort through some historical papers of note. These dusty documents may contain previously unknown information about the assassination of the murderer, Lorenzino de' Medici, 500 years previously.

A place of myths, rumours and secrets, The Hotel looms over the dark Fens, tall and grey in its Gothic splendour. Built on cursed land, a history of violent death suffuses its very foundations - yet it has a magnetism that is impossible to ignore. Here are the stories of The Hotel: stories of children, mothers, monsters, cult film-makers, thrill-seekers and workers on the night shift, all with their own tales of its strange power, of the horrors of Room 63, and of desperate but failed attempts to escape its seductive pull.

The story opens with the apparently accidental drowning of a sixth form student in the Norfolk countryside. As a matter of routine, or so it seems, the case passes across the desk of Detective Sergeant Smith, recently returned to work after an internal investigation into another case that has led to tensions between officers at Kings Lake police headquarters. As an ex-DCI, Smith could have retired by now, and it is clear that some of his superiors wish that he would do so.

Publisher's summary
"An outstanding debut - ingenious, fast-paced and unpredictable." (Harlan Coben)
"Geneva is one of the best thrillers I've ever read. And I've read quite a few." (A J Finn)
How far would you go for someone you love?
Nobel Prize-winning scientist Sarah Collier has taken a step back from work to spend more time with her family. Movie nights with her husband Daniel and their daughter Maddie are a welcome respite from the scrutiny of the world’s press. As much as it hurts, it’s good to be able to see her father more too. He’s suffering from Alzheimer’s and needs special care.
Sarah has started to show tell-tale signs of the disease too. She’s been experiencing blackouts and memory loss. It’s early days but she must face the possibility that she won’t be there to see her daughter grow up. Daniel, a neuroscientist himself, is doing his best to be supportive but she already knows that she will have to be the strong one. For all of them.
So when Sarah is invited to be the guest of honour at a prestigious biotech conference in Geneva she declines, wanting to stay out of the public eye – that is until Daniel shows her the kind of work that the enigmatic Mauritz Schiller has been developing.
Flown first class to the spectacular alpine city and housed in a luxury hotel, Sarah and Daniel are thrust back into the spotlight. As they try to shut out the noise of the public media storm, in private Sarah is struggling with her escalating symptoms. And the true extent of what Schiller has achieved is a revelation. This is technology that could change medicine forever. More than that, it could save Sarah’s life.
But technology so valuable attracts all kinds of interest. Wealthy investors are circling, controversial blogger Terri Landau is all over the story, and someone close to Schiller seems bent on taking advantage of the situation for themselves. Sarah feels threatened and does not know who to trust – including herself. Far from being her lifeline Schiller's technology may be her undoing.
As events spiral out of control Sarah and Daniel are faced with the ultimate question: how far would you go for someone you love?
An unmissable debut thriller written and narrated by Richard Armitage, co-narrated by Nicola Walker and Jane Perry.
This book contains scenes pertaining to dementia that some listeners may find distressing.
Featured Article: Best of the Year—The 15 Best Mysteries and Thrillers of 2022
This year was an amazingly fruitful one for mysteries and thrillers. As we tried to narrow this list down, a popular refrain among editors was: "Don’t forget this, don’t forget that, and what about this?" Some of us liked when the twists and turns began within the first few minutes, while others were happy to go on the rocky, thrilling rides the genre provides with a little guessing along the way. But we’re sure about one thing—this list is simply the best.

Wild ride!
It is rare you listen to a book where the author manages to make you hear, smell and feel you are right in the middle of the story. Richard Armitage achieves this with his carefully chosen words that paints such vivid images as you listen to them. He is a masterful storyteller and I hope there will be more stories from him in the future.
Geneva is a wild ride of suspense and intrigue, you are surprised over and over by how the story unfolds and the roles each character actually play in it.
Richard Armitage has been a favorite narrator of mine for a while and I can now say he is also one of my favorite authors.
Nicola Walker is perfect as Sarah, bringing her to life and it’s always such a joy to listen to Richard Armitage perform a narration-nobody does it better.
Highly recommend!

I admit it. The real reason I started listening to this was because Richard Armitage and Nicola Walker narrated it. I love them both. I was not expecting much other than excellent narration. I was pleasantly surprised! This book had me from the first chapter and I I had to hang on tight for this wild ride!
I loved the exciting story and enthralling characters. Please write more!

Richard Armitage: Author
With a lyrical style, RA gives us a compelling story full of complex characters and a fascinating setting. A bit plodding at times when the different characters rehash the same plot points, but the conclusion is satisfying, if a smidge predictable. Recommended.
