About this listen

It’s time to come home....

The Hull family has owned the Gallows Hill Winery for generations. Their wine wins awards. Their business prospers. Their family thrives. People whisper that the curse has awakened once more.

The sprawling old house has long been perched on top of a hill overlooking the nearby town, jealously guarding the estate's secrets.

It's been more than a decade since Margot Hull last saw her childhood home. She was young enough when she was sent away that she barely remembers its dark passageways and secret corners. But now she's returned to bury her parents and reconnect with the winery that is her family's legacy and the bloody truth of exactly what lies buried beneath the crumbling estate. Alone in the sprawling, dilapidated building, Margot is forced to come face-to-face with the horrors of the past and realize that she may be the next victim of a house that never rests....

The story had me in a BIND. The story was woven together with enough clear details and mysterious events that it really gave the whole “puzzle pieces are coming together” feel. The narrator also did a superb job and gave it a kind of graphic audio feel. Voices were unique, she used different tempos and volumes to really suck you into the scene. Overall, a fantastic listen :)

Gripping Story and Theatrical Narration

This one has a lot of solid element: Parental abandonment, POC main character, Don't Ask, Don't Tell mentality, interesting side characters and well described scenes/events. I, personally, love a main character who, by all accounts, does *not* want to be wherever they are. Pauses between chapters are kind of long, so if you have headphones in, don't panic, it hasn't cut out or off. 9/10

Old House and overall spooky vibe. A great read as usual from the talented Ms. Coates.

The story line was so good I couldn’t put the book down. The narrator is the best I’ve ever heard.

The narrator did an awesome job.

It's an incredible story. Not your standard "haunted house" kind of story. It leaves you wanting more and more. I highly recommend it.

Kept me at the edge of my seat!

the story itself was good, a little formulaic, but atmospheric and creepy. not a huge fan of the narrator, but she didn't detect from the story. good haunted house tale.

I enjoyed the story. That was the only reason I stuck to the end but for me the performance was a bit over acted in parts. Margot sounded way too strangled way too many times. I’m sure a lot of people may prefer this kind of super performance I guess. For me it was a bit too much and exhausting in some parts.
I’m glad I finished it tho.

The story was great
