Publisher's summary

A treasure map to the stars. An inherited legacy beyond imagination.

When Gunnar McConnell inherits a treasure map after his uncle's death, he goes on the hunt of his life and can't believe what he finds.

There isn't just gold on those mountains, but the secret of a lifetime—a starship that can take him to worlds unknown, and a universe full of life.

When he survives the arduous journey into the belly of a dangerous cave, the Enoch stands before him, waiting for Gunnar to accept his inheritance.

Armed with his new ship—a deified body of destruction—and an AI that only his DNA can activate, Gunnar is forced into a greater conflict of galactic proportions. He soon discovers that politics and deception reach far beyond the boundaries of Earth.

After he willingly accepts a centuries old legacy, a new and dangerous world opens before him—a world he may not be prepared to embrace.

Embark on the adventure of a lifetime with Matt Coleman as he brings you a brand new science fiction series. If you're a fan of spaceships, suspense, and edge of your seat action, this might be the thrill ride you've been waiting for.

Enjoyed listening to this book on my commute to and from work, highly recommended. Can't wait for the future releases in the story.

I liked the English accent of the AI which stood out nice from reading

I really enjoyed the action and adventure of the main character and then the crew that he acquired. There was plenty of humor and the book was well written. I thought the narrator did a fantastic job And I've already started book 2.

like the narrator

no voluntary hero, with so many superior gifts and advantages, would operate in ,such an informational vacuum that this plot has ,willingly without bringing things to a halt

Kinda Weak

Ok premise, maybe a little similar to some other recent books out there. Main character was way underpowered, gets beat up all the time and survives only by merciful circumstances. Not the winner I think most would want in a story such as this. Narrator did well.

Great start to a fun series

I really enjoyed this one. The characters feel real and alive. The writing is fantastic for a first time author. The narration is pristine, which is no surprise given it is Mark Boyett (always fantastic). If you enjoy these types of found starship stories, then this is a good one. As the story unfolds, you get a lot of really unique worldbuilding, which is rare nowadays, so I really appreciated that. The technology is also really creative. I'm excited for the sequel.

Space! Adventure! ….not so much, meh

This book is a perfect example of how to make your MC into a useless and unlikable tool. We are told that the MC is a 50 yr old, ex-military capable and smart individual. Then, the writer proceeds to write him as a whiny lovestruck teenager who is too self involved to see the “big picture” and too stupid to ask the right questions. All in all making this an extremely frustrating and unsatisfying book to read/listen to.

Different voicing

Not a bad story, and well told! I'm in for number 2, and will start now!

Very enjoyable, Top-notch concept and execution.

This one checks most all of the boxes on my list of what makes a sci-fi series fun to listen to. The characters are likable, the pacing does not drag, the version of our galaxy it takes place in and how tech works there are interesting, and the narrator is pleasant to listen to. I am looking forward to seeing how the series progresses.
