I’m someone with a slight fear of vomiting; it’s the main reason I drink very little alcohol and avoid party scenes where intoxication is the norm. (I do enjoy wine tasting on occasion.) So, it’s interesting to me that, for an anthology of which so far TWO stories include people audibly throwing up, the title details include trigger warnings only for sexual content/language.

I do appreciate the main themes in this series—namely, exploring sexuality, and exploration more broadly; graduate students’ sense of a cohort among open-minded people with similar interests; queer love and love that doesn’t fit neatly into a normative box; fears of never seeing one another after grad school; and the nuances of intimacy, respect, and boundaries. However, I don’t expect to continue listening.

Regardless of this audio production, I wish society/culture would drop its tendency to pair substance use with intimacy, sexual fantasies, and emotional honesty.

Sounds of vomiting…
