About this listen
Much has changed, for humanity struggles in the aftermath of total collapse.
When Crow set out to survive, he never imagined the world he would find. He and his band of survivors crossed the wastelands in search of a new home. They found GUC instead. A cyberpunk city filled with new dangers they could barely imagine. Beneath their feet, humans are little more than prisoners scraping out what they can under the illusion of protection.
It was supposed to be a fresh start. A chance to become more than their miserable existence allowed. He stumbles upon Gabriel and is offered the chance to change everything, for Gabriel plans to take it all down any way he can. Once begun, there will be no return. Now Crow finds himself stuck in a power struggle that is throwing the entire city into chaos. Crow and Gabriel decide the time has come to risk everything for the sake of freedom. Each is willing to sacrifice his life for this one opportunity to take back society and, perhaps, find a way to set the world right.
The stage is set. The battle for freedom is about to begin.

Decent, could be a little more fast paced
Decent story, you have to focus while listening to follow, not something to half-listen to while doing something else. Wish it moved a little bit faster, good if you like a slow burn. Narrator was pretty good, although I had to speed it up a little to enjoy it.

Great story and performance
This second volume kept me riveted with the unexpected plot twists. I got lost when the narration went back in time to scenes from a character’s past. Sometimes it took awhile for mw to understand this is what happened and not that I missed a chunk of the story. This probably would be better captured in the written version. The performance was good and enhances the story.

Good story, progresses the series well, narrator is dull
Narrator is a bit too monotone/dispassionate to make the story really compelling. It makes the text harder to follow and the story less engaging.

Kind of hectic
The 1st half of this story felt like it was so organized and well polished. I was liking the characters more, and the narrative felt smart.
The 2nd half it felt more like book 1 and the characters felt like they were regressing. I'm going to keep reading the series but this kind of felt hectic.
