About this listen

A one-man crime wave is shaking the peaceful city of Santa Maria, California, and no place is safe. Kenny Trask, an unpredictable, high-strung, shockingly violent convict, has just escaped from prison and is intent on putting together enough cash to bankroll a new life for himself, his ex-cellmate, and the female defense attorney he believes they must “rescue”. Only one man is willing to stand in the way: Robby Medavoy, a cop who’s been called a hero, whose unorthodox style has fueled the resentment of rival officers and the suspicions of his superiors. With a contract on his life from his department’s SWAT team, Medavoy must put everything on the line to pull Trask in - his reputation, his survival, and, unexpectedly, the woman he comes to love.

Finally a fictional novel that feels very real!

So glad to have had this incredible writer AND Amazing narrator recommended to me by Audible. I accidentally listened to the first book believing it was a true crime story/memoir as I normally read....and never realized until last hour it wasn't! So well written and narrated that I can't stop with the other books!!!

Very long

Much longer than it needed to be and often confusing. A lot of characters to keep straight. No real stand out characters or really likable ones. The idea of the convict and his lawyer seemed a tad far fetched and not really believable. Average story with a lot of moving parts.

THIS AUTHOR IS GREAT

If you like cops (good or bad) you will love this book. This author is gold. Narrator, John McLain, does a bang up job.

Not realistic

So the Author must have just dealt with traffic cases because most of the rest of the story isn’t very realistic police procedures or how suspects really act or react. Could have been a good story.

Boring, Boring, boring.......

The story was so boring that I tried to skip chapters but it was still boring,. The Narrator had a prescriptive voice and low acting skills!!

Ridiculous Premise to the story

The book started out with such a ridiculous opening and character development I couldn’t stand to listen. Very disappointed in the author - make it somewhat believable or get out of the genre
