About this listen

From the ashes, heroes will rise....

In an instant, Miami was devastated by a nuclear bomb. Millions fled the destruction as the lethal fallout descended.

Now, the entire city is a hot zone. Hundreds of thousands of citizens are homeless, hungry, and growing more desperate with every passing hour.

While the government scrambles to respond to the worst humanitarian crisis the US has ever seen, Dakota and Logan flee the hot zone. But the insidious radiation can't be escaped. It's already inside them.

Their only chance to survive is to reach the nearest emergency hospital, but deadly foes are determined to stop them. And in the background, unnoticed, a formidable enemy rears its head....

Featuring fast-paced action and strong, complex characters, the Nuclear Dawn post-apocalyptic survival series is perfect for fans of Harley Tate, Sarah Lyons Fleming, Jack Hunt, and Jacqueline Druga.

From the Ashes

A fantastic read. Dakota and her friend are trying to make it to a safe place. And the run in to some major hurdles. This is a fantastic series this is the third Novel in the series. And it is jam packed with lots of action that has you on the edge of your seat. The Narrator has done a fantastic job with the characters and bringing them out. The Author does an outstanding job at the scenes, I felt like I was watching it as I listened I could picture the scenes in my minds eye. This would make a great Movie with sequels with the books in the series. I definitely recommend.

An action packed addition to this series.

This review is based on the audiobook version. Ms. Stone has packed a lot of action in this third installment in the Nuclear Dawn series that takes off from Dakota’s group finding Erin’s foster home and their encounter with Maddox. Along with Dakota's facing Maddox, a couple of new characters make an appearance as they attempt to protect Erin. Additionally, the gang resurfaces as Dakota’s group is trying to get to the safety of the emergency area at the airport. Needless to say the trip form Erin’s foster home to the airport is fraught with danger and numerous hazards. To say much more about the story might provide a spoiler or two, so I’ll just say this installment was a solid addition to this series. Once again Stacey Glemboski’s narration skills make it a story that is hard to put down.

Will keep you on the edge of your seat!

From the Ashes: A Post-Apocalyptic Survival Thriller (Nuclear Dawn, Book 3) by Kyla Stone and narrated by Stacey Glemboski is another excellent addition that will have you on the edge-of-your-seat! Recommend for those who are following the series or if you’re looking for a new post-apocalyptic series.

The story continues where the previous book left off. Eden has been rescued and the group is together trying to make it to a safe zone for medical treatment. Only problem? Maddox arrives and causes problems. From there the chaos continues for the group. They do get a brief breather from the craziness when they make it to a government run safe zone, but it’s not for long. We learn more about those responsible for the bombs, the religious cult, Maddox’s past, Eden learns the truth, and Dakota learns to trust. The mass panic and after-effects progress. There’s great character development in this book (better than the previous). It does end in a cliffhanger, but shouldn’t really be a surprise since it’s a five book series. Kyla’s writing is detailed and makes you feel like you are right there in the story with the characters.

The narrator, Stacey Glemboski, did an excellent job. She definitely helps to make the characters stand out and brings them to life.

“There are people who endure horrific things. Things other people can’t even imagine. Some can break free and forge a different life. Some are broken, life long victims who never believe anything different than what they’ve been taught. Other see the truth, but are too hurt to do the hard work to fix themselves.”

I recommend if you have been following this series or are looking to start a new postapoc series (make sure to start at book one). I binged through this one in a day. I can’t wait for the next book!

Parental guidance/trigger warnings: death, WACO cult mention, child marriage talk, gangs, violence (including father hitting son), religious cult (minimal preaching, more along the lines of end of world and practices such as women remain silent/below the men), and memories of past abuse (physical and mental).

The action does not let up!

To survive the city and the gangs, the group have to have all their wits about them, but the radiation sickness is doing a number on each. And just as you thought you knew all the characters, a really interesting plot twist reveals itself. Excellently written and fast paced, just the way I like it.

The narration is again superb, Stacey Glemboski is fast becoming my favorite narrator. She has an awesome voice, a perfectly natural narration style and plays accents and differing voices to my heart's content.

I did win a promo copy for an honest review, and there is really no negatives about this book or series :)

great series to read

I am not normally into this type of stories, but this has been a great book to read. I have read all of these books and wish there were more. I highly recommend this series to anyone that wants an interesting read. I think the books were very well written and never lagged in any place.

The struggle to survive isn't over yet!!!!

Reviewer: Teresa Fallen Angel

Summary:
Dakota has finally found her sister, but unfortunately s has her brother Maddox. Dakota’s past is revealed form the time she was taken to live in a religious community where she never quite fit in. What she didn’t tell everyone was that she was on the run from Eden’s family because she took her away form them. The horrors Dakota lived through was easily seen on her face, but there was more to the story than she had revealed. Their chances of surviving the nuclear fallout counted as little when they faced danger form not only Maddox, but the gangs running rampant as they see little sings of governmental activity. Dakota is determined to take Eden to to the Glades where they will be safe or so she thinks.

This was a fast paced story that was filling with suspense and action form the very start. Is was sad to see how fast society broke down, but the resiliency to survive was inspiring. I for one can’t wait to find out what happens in the next book in the Nuclear Dawn series. The audiobook brought the struggle to survive in ways the ebook left behind.

Most Action-Packed Book of Series So Far

This book is part of a series, and should be listened to after Books 1 & 2 to get the full impact of the story. My review contains spoilers from the previous storyline and hints at what is to come.

'From the Ashes' begins at the point that Book 2, 'Fear the Fallout', ends. Both Maddox and Dakota have found Eden. There is a confrontation that ends unsatisfactorily for everyone. Dakota, Eden and the group finally head for the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at the airport. Logan is still being sought by the Blood Outlaw gang that drags the entire group into eventual fighting. Will they survive long enough to make it to Ezra's homestead in the swamp?

This 3rd book of the series is the most action-packed and suspenseful to date. We find out more information about who is responsible for the bombs. Logan and Dakota are learning to trust each other. We get an inkling into why Maddox is so single-minded in his quest to get Eden. All around, a great character building installment of the series. Kyla Stone has kept the quality going with this book.

Stacey Glemboski is one of my favorite narrators. She gets to the essence of the books and characters and conveys it to the reader. This book is no exception.

I received a free copy of this audiobook, after my request. Now having listened to it, I am writing a voluntary opinion.

Highly recommended.

not for the meek

Dakota, Logan, Julio, and the others are still trying to get somewhere safe. Will Dakota be able to keep Eden safe? The twists and turns in the storyline keep the suspense at a high. I do wish we would find out what happened that fateful last night before Dakota and Eden started their run from Maddox. I found much of the scenarios believable but terrifying.
