About this listen

He's her only hope...

Park ranger Hope Banning's plans for a little R & R are put on hold when a plane crashes at the top of a remote mountain. Hope will have to climb the summit and assess the situation. And the only climbing partner available is Sam Rutherford - the enigmatic man she spent a night with six months ago.

For staying alive...

Ever since Sam lost his girlfriend in a falling accident, he insists on climbing solo. But Hope and any potential survivors need his help. As Sam and Hope set out on an emergency search-and-rescue mission, he realizes the sparks still sizzle between them. And when they learn a killer is among the survivors, they must place their trust in each other for a chance at happiness.

ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES!

I have been waiting for a long time for a book that was so well written and narrated. I was painful when i had to turn it off, I just wanted to see what was going to happen next! Great story.

loved it

Love this series! I had read Afterschock a long time ago, and then found the 3 books on Audible Romance. Have finished the first two so far and now downloading the third!

Jill Sorenson is back!

After the disappointment of Aftershock Jill Sorenson is back on form with this one. We first met the main characters in Aftershock and that story is referenced a few times in this one but this book is far superior to Aftershock. It features the broad, fresh canvas of the wild outdoors (rather than the claustrophobic stagnation of Aftershock) and is much more exciting and faster-paced for that. The author paints some wonderful visuals of the park and you can almost smell the fresh air. If Sam is a bit stereotypical/two-dimensional then the interesting, "shades of grey" character of Jay/Xavier more than makes up for that.

Like Aftershock, there are shades of the TV show Lost in this book also - a dead pilot on a plane, the plane falling on people, tracking villains across the "jungle", etc (at one point I almost expected a polar bear to show up!) but it all adds to the visuals and excitement.

I remain slightly disappointed in the choice of narrator. She is fairly monotone and never really ratchets up the excitement or changes her very deliberate way of reading.

Overall, though, I really enjoyed this book and am eagerly awaiting the next Jill Sorenson offering.

Nice story but...

It was a nice story, but too deep into the storylines with the sub characters. Those could have been quicker. Additionally it needed to be longer in some areas and shorter in others. More time on the mountain and less off of it. Honestly, there's no need to have so many ups and downs, twists and turns, etc. as they weren't all that surprising. At one point i found myself saying get on with it already. The sex scenes were descently erotic and done well, but there could have been more of them and more romance for this romance. HEA are my favorite but the falling in love happened so quick it made my head spun. It's a good continuation of characters from this first book, and yes this is the second despite how its listed in Audible. The first is aftershock. Overall not too bad at all but needed more focus on the main characters.
