About this listen

Tolkien meets Shock and Awe

Orcs. Trolls. Wraith riders. Dark wizards. Together, they form an unstoppable force. Or so they thought.

Dark Army...meet the US Army Rangers.

When a Joint Task Force of elite Rangers are transported to a strange and fantastic future where science and evolution have incarnated the evils of myth and legend, they find themselves surrounded, pinned down, and in a desperate fight for their very survival - against nightmares of flesh and blood made real. Which means only one thing.

It’s time to Ranger up and stack bodies.

The forces of evil have no idea how dangerous a Ranger has been trained to be, and once the action starts, it won’t let up in this no-holds-barred, full-auto, epic battle for survival in the Forgotten Ruin.

From the creators of Galaxy's Edge....

Buy in, and jock up for this thrilling WarGate adventure. A battle unlike any other is calling.

Rangers vs DnD

Great story mixing the endless creativity that comes with DnD and the courage and dedication of the Rangers. The narration fits the imagery and sound that came to mind when I first read the book.

scratches that Fantasy and Military Sci Fi itch

If you like Galaxy's Edge and Lord of the Rings, this is for you. the narrator is good and fits the character, but there were a couple of times audio had to be recorded that jumped out. not often, but a bit distracting.

I love the authors and this book is the beginning of a new series I hope to read all of!

Outstanding!

this is by far one of the most fun books I've ever read. I really enjoyed the dichotomy of Pure Fantasy and Ultra realism regarding modern Army Rangers. I firmly believe that if Rangers were dropped into a fantasy setting like this it would happen exactly as written.

Amazing

Anspach and Cole are the Brooks and Dunn of both kinds of literature: Science Fiction AND Fantasy. They make the impossible (Rangers in the Fantasy genre) not only happen, but happen masterfully. I hope the remaining books in this series are recorded onto Audible.

Really entertaining

Basically a “what would happen if you dropped a Ranger company into Middle Earth” story, but very well done. So many of the elements are essentially cut and paste that I can’t really give 5 stars on the story. However, it is so well written and entertaining that I couldn’t in good conscience give it less than 4.
